Since my Treo 270 does not stay tuned anymore for a longer period (see http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...d.php?t=133362) I'd like to write a background task that does the following:

    - detect the network state, say check every 5 seconds,
    - toggle the phone off/on if not connected any more.

    Doesn't sound too difficult?

    Any hints for me, please?

    Thanks in advance

Search for TreoHelper. Does pretty much what it sounds like you're looking for. I think it was written for the Treo 300, but may work on yours, too. I use it on a 650, works great.

Works for the 270. Just installed it and am now waiting... :-)

    Many thanks for the hint!

It seems to help me so far. I haven't seen a red blink all day and had several phone calls and text messages.

One thing is awkward: the GPRS triangle is gone. It was there yesterday before I went to bed (I know because I had to tell TreoHelper not to log on to GPRS automatically). That's a bit strange...but who cares, when my 270 is back to life again. :-)
