I don't have a 680, so I can't test it, but it looks like it might be worth a try.

I'm having terrific battery life now (cross fingers it sticks), but in the days when I wasn't, the battery would drop 8% an hour with the device OFF (phone radio on, but otherwise totally inactive). In 12 hours, sitting on a table, it would go from fully charged to the battery warning dialog.

This means that all of Palm's tips (dim screen, turn off bluetooth when not necessary, etc, etc), and this one where apps are made to run at different speeds, are totally moot, IMO. None of the hardware was doing anything, so throttling it down to a lower level of activity makes no sense.

Perhaps other people are having battery different issues for which these tips might apply, but it wouldn't have helped me and my overwhelmingly negative battery experience.

After about 5 days (I wish I kept notes) my 680 went from draining in 10 hours, to having 50% this morning (after 24 hours off the charger)...

    go figure.

This sounds like what the Clies that used the 123mhz Sony processor did. They "adjusted" the CPU speed to run at only the necessary speed to prolong the life of the battery. Except for WiFi and BT apps, it seemed to work well, especially with the TH55s.

Maybe try contacting the developer, and see what he suggests?
