Does anyone think the version of bluetooth in the 680 will be available for the 650?

The 680 has Bluetooth 1.2 (right?). Rumor has it (had it?) that the 650 also has 1.2 hardware, thus the 680 drivers might work, I suppose. I do not know if the 650 really has 1.2 hardware, though.

According to the Palmone website, the 650 has 1.1 hardware and the 680 has 1.2 hardware. I am assuming that is correct. Is there an advantage to the Treo 680 Bluetooth software?

The primary advantage is that Bluetooth 1.2 is way more secure due to the use of frequency-hopping technology.

The old rumor was that the 650 has Bluetooth 1.2 hardware but is only enabled to 1.1. This seems unlikely, but, if true, the 680 drivers might enable Bluetooth 1.2 on the 650, which would be a great thing.

Is there a way to add just the Bluetooth 1.2 to 650 or do we have to load the 680 drivers?

It depends. In the unlikley event that it actually has 1.2 hardware, then the 680 drivers MIGHT work. Otherwise the hardware would need to be switched out, too.

I would love it if it would work.
