The arctic battery door for Seidio 2400 mah extended battery is now available !
  2. #122
Ok, I gotta say, the extended battery is the answer!

Unless you carry this phone in your pocket, the extra size and weight are not an issue. I charged this battery via USB overnight Sunday/Monday, and took it off the charger at 8am. It had only gotten to 90% and I just plugged it back in a few minutes ago with the charge still at 38%. (had to hot sync, figured I'd leave it in overnight)

It seems to take quite a bit longer to charge via USB than the original battery did, even if you double up on the expected time, but since I won't have to charge it as often, who cares!

The "hump" isn't as big as I thought it was going to be, and the added weight was a concern for about the first day. I no longer even think about it.

I have a phone that makes me happy now!!!

Just to clarify: does the success of the 2400 mah battery mean that there is likely no hardware or software problem with the 680 .. it just has an undersized battery?

Or do we think there are still power related problems in the 680 that need fixing?

I'd be guessing that the extended 2400mAh battery is about twice as good as the 1200 mAh battery

It's not an either or question, it's one and the same: except for the camera drain, which was patched, the power problem with the 680 is that its battery is too small. It's hard to say that the bulging battery fixes it. What it does is it changes it from a misdesigned (relatively) slim phone to a fat one. I suspect that few people would buy the fat phone if that were how it was originally marketed.

    Seidioseidio,

    I'm waiting for a 3600 mAh battery.
Do you have plans on making one?
i'm NOT addicted to palm devices. can you give me my treo now?

I ordered 2 weeks ago, and haven't heard anything yet. What's the typical time frame for this? (I'm in Canada).
  8. #128
It's hard to say what the wait would be to Canada. I ordered the two 1300 batteries and it took OVER TWO WEEKS to get to me, and when it did, I received an empty envelope. After I called Seidio and supplied them with the requested picture of the package, they sent me out two replacements which arrived in 5 days.

Thats cause Seidio sucks. Not sure when people are gonna start to realize this. Their flaw is customer service.. its pretty much non-existent. Im just hoping someone will come along and make these kinds of products and also focus on customer service and put seidio's *** out of business.

I place a huge amount of importance on customer service. Especially in the internet age, you almost have to go out of your way to offer poor service and there's never an excuse for that. It's a deal-breaker for me, and I've not gone back to even big, convenient chains after many years due to poor customer service experiences.

I'll try inquiring with Seidio and hopefully they will be able to give me an update...

Well the battery has been working great for me, but it has done something strange twice now. After getting a full charge, it will say "Battery has failed" and the only way to get rid of the message is to pull the battery out and put it back in.

Has anyone else had this problem?
  12. #132
I've only had it for three days but I haven't seen that problem. On the other hand, I haven't seen a detectable increase in battery life yet, although a 8-9% increase may be difficult to notice. It's almost definitely not LESS powerful, however!
  13. #133
I must say that the battery life has increase tremendously since I order the extended battery. However, it took about 10 charging before I started to notice the difference.

Now I can go 3-4 days before charging using "bluetooth, internet radio, email, phone and regular programs on my Treo 680.

    Thanks Seidio....

Well,as I said above, I have had the 1300 for a few days now, and have run it down to zero three days in a row. Today I only got 9.5 hours out of the phone! If it doesn't get better from here I don't know what to say, but I'll give it another week or two. So far, it shows no greater power than the 1200 and based on today's performance, I'm not thrilled. With the stock Palm battery I've been getting 16-20 hours of battery life. That's with Chatter full time push, a dozen or two short phone calls, weather updates, and maybe an hour or two of P Tunes on plane flights when the radio is off.

I'm having similarly poor results with my Seidio 1300 battery so far. BUT... since it took a few weeks until I started getting decent performance out of my stock Palm battery, I'm figuring (and hoping) that the Seidio will eventually also kick into gear and start performing better soon!

Sadly, I have to echo what tgwaste said about Seidio's customer service. After a week, my first order never got filled. Then when I finally got hold of someone, she told me that I should cancel the first order and try ordering again online. A few hours later I get an email that the first order (which I had just cancelled) was just sent out. Good product, but lousy customer service...

My 1300mah doesn't even charge. It shows 0% for a good 14 hours. After 2 weeks, i am still waiting for Seidio to send out the replacment. Great CS......

I've had mine for two weeks now and it's not clear its equal to, let alone minimally better, than the stock battery.

1300 v 1200. Makes me wonder whose scale was even being used anyway. Is anybody really watching these #s?

The difficulty is that my standard battery was starting to show pretty good results: 16 hours or so that it never had before. Now with the 1300 ma battery I am getting 14 maximum, certifiably. It's hard to tell whether I'm using it more heavily maybe subconsciously depending upon an addition 8% or so, but I don't think so, since I started using the 1200 more when I realized I was getting 16 hours reliably. But you're right, as I've said before, we're dealing with a small increment with data that is unreliable. Obviously, we'd not be dealing with this if the 680 wasn't seriously underpowered to begin with.

Any update on the "normal" size extended battery for the 680? Something beyond the 1300?
