Smileyboy, you and tgwaste off the hook, pun intended! Oh I hope it's true, I have an extra Palm battery so I'm never without power but it would be so nice to worry to much about my usage after I download Rocket Boom in Kinoma everyday.

Sony's probably the only company that could make one that dense...but then you can probably guess why their batteries tend to catch on fire and explode

It will be interesting to see how much Seidio squeezes in (I'm sure it wont be 2400...)

Boy...that would be the ticket, if it works and shows the correct charge on the meter. Although my battery life is OK...more is better. And, I prefer my Treo to be humpless.

I'll hide and watch here to see how your experiences go...

Whoops...just saw the above post. Oh well...

I so did just cancel my order.
  11. #191
    Oh ****
  12. #192
Wow, I'm so glad it was $70! I can't afford a $70 experiment at least not right now. I totally dodged a huge humpbacked bullet. I haven't been back to Proprota's website yet, but how much do you want to bet the new door only comes in graphite. That will look very fugly on your beautiful Arctic 680, smileyboy.

    So my order was canceled.

Proporta told me that the 2000mah battery was discontinued.......It just came out. Sounds like someone screwed up somewhere.
  16. #196
Wow, so either I get a 1380 battery or 2400 with a hump. I hate this. arrrggghhh.

    Smileyboy,
Why do you see that as your only 2 options? You can also get a spare OEM Palm 1200 mAh battery. I got one at the same time I got my 680, knowing that I'm a heavy user.

I used it a few times for the sake of "equal usage, equal lifetimes" the first couple of weeks, but I haven't used my spare a single time since the Camera (battery patch) update came out, and I learned to deep-cycle my battery meter once a month or so.

Yes, I can see the attraction of "more", and I remember having a ginormous hunking brick of a battery (it was at least an inch thick) hanging on the back of my Nokia phone back in 1999 or so--a battery that lasted like 2 weeks on a charge, and I used it for 2+ years.

But most of my love of the 680 is based on its compactness, so I would never consider adding a "hump" to it. And I don't see any need to mess with 3rd-party 1300 mAh batteries that are of questionable quality (based on posts here), that give a negligible increase in performance, PLUS are such a tight fit in the battery compartment that they make resetting the device a bigger pain.
  18. #198
I have the 1300 (actually two of them, as well as two of the Palm originals) and it isn't a tight fit at all. Frankly, I can't tell the difference in their fit. I also can't see any increased battery life--I sometimes suspect that the Palm might perform better, but there is no way I can say definitively.

But I can say that there is nothing to like about a phone that you have to carry a spare battery along for. The whole idea of compactness, as you put it is...well, compactness. It's not compact when you have to carry two items instead of one.

Brad_h, I had the Nokia hump you speak of. And I have the Hump on this 680. I've gotta say, you forget the damn thing is there. It is no where near the size of the hump that was the old Nokia. And I'm getting 4 to 6 days out of it depending on usage. So I'm thinking that a really heavy user should be able to get no less than three out of the 2400.

It weighs a bit more, but unless you have a humpless 680 in your hand to notice, the weight isn't any big deal at all.

    FWIW

I have been using the "hump" version for two weeks or so and the hump is really not as big as it looks. Sometimes it actually makes it a bit easier to hold. I guess I am in the heavy user catagory because 650, 680 I use about 100mah per hour. The 1200 stock battery had to be changed everyday, now I don't have to worry about it. I do get the battery low message occasionally but it has never shut down my phone down or had to pull the battery to reset. I am hoping that the first update (if we get one) deals with the voltage issue but for now I am happy. I knew with the smaller battery this was going to be an issue but it has a solution at least for me.
