I just bought this Patriot 8GB Class 4 for $95 after rebate, plus 8.56 shipping from Ecost

well class 4 is faster then class 2
    4MB/s vs 2mb/s
the 8gb TRANSCEND is class 2, selling for about $106
so $95 for class 4 is even better

but is patriot rated as good as transcend?

as for the 4GB SD cards they seem to be allot faster, they have been around longer

i think 150x is equal to about 22.5mb/s read and 15 mb/s write

I tried the above procedure, and it did NOTHING! My 8GB Card STILL reads as a 4GB. I did EXACTLY what was mentioned above.

It would seem that the problem is only with interpretting the amount of free space. You can apparently still fill it beyond 4G.

it seems the treo looks at it as two blocks of 4gb

if u have 1gb of material it will tell u that u have three left, if u put 5gb of material it will still tell u have three left

once first 4gb fills up it will then measure the next 4gb block,,,,doesnt look at it as one 8gb block...only downfall

would have to put in card reader then in pc to determine as a whole how much free space is on it

which 8gb card are u using?
where did u get and how much did u pay?

    thanks

    italiangspot,
I believe you are correct with regards to the Treo looking at the card as two blocks of 4GB.

Using Card Reader, the capacity shows up as around 3.8 GB, but when viewing the the card from the PC, it shows as something slightly under 8GB. I may try to get the card past the 4GB threshold this weekend if I have the chance.

Sorry for not being precise on the values; I'm at work (where cell phones with cameras are not allowed).

I was initially worried about getting an 8GB card, but it turns out that as long as the slot driver is installed it was not a problem! It works great!

I am using the Transcend card (TS8GSDHC) that I purchased last week from ANTonline (through Amazon.com) for $83.94.

I just checked Amazon.com and found that another reseller (Thememstore) has the 8GB in stock for $87.50.

    Regards,
    Jeff

    good find, class 2

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...bosnation0e-20

if anyone wants a bit faster card.. class 4.. look where "rink" posted the elink

120 plus shipping - $25 mail in rebatre

sd cards dont go by class rating, they go by 50x or 150x rating, which is the fastest speed u can achieve.. they dont tell u minn. speed

the class ratings are the minn. that u can receive... they dont mention the maximum

i think the fastest sdhc card out at this time is class 6

This article discusses a hotfix that adds support for SD High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards in Microsoft Windows XP.

    Here's the download link http://hotfix.xable.net/download/ind...v4-x86-ENU.exe

I hope it makes us read the 8 gig card. If it does, I just wasted money on the card reader I just purchased.

I dont mean to beat a dead horse but I still cannot get my TREO to work with my 4GB SDHC card - i cannot figure out where to transfer the file to on the device so that it enables SDHC card reading on my treo 700p - can someone please hold my hand and make it clear WHERE to transfer the file to, and what is the exact format / name of the file so that the device will accept it into memory.

    Thanks for help in advance

i havent done so yet, so i cant give u step by step, waiting on card this week..the file name is SDIO-sdsd.prc
    remember DO NOT HOTSYNC FILE!

Do u have a SD card now? not SDHC one?
u need that to put driver file on....
place sd card in computer in a card reader, hopefully u have one of those or u need a program to have your treo act like a card reader, card export II..for example...gives a trial period so u dont have to buy

once u have the driver file on the regular SD card now u can use free program called fileZ to move from SD card to internal memory

if u got this far and need instructions on fileZ let me know....

I am thinking that u dont have a regular SD card and u tried to hotsync the file..that wont work....

Just use your phones browser to view this post, and go to the site where the driver is. Once you try and download the driver save it to your phone. (to memory, not to the card).

There has to be another 680 ROM file that we need in addition to the SDIO-sdsd.prc file. To make the card show all 8GB instead of two 4GB chunks. For those of you who have the 680 ROM see if you can figure out which file it is and post it.

For those who kep asking about where to put the SDHC file. Just download it to the TREO "Device" and not to the card.

    Grab the file here.......

anyone else have any luck with this?

i installed the driver and still cannot read sdhc card on my built in card reader

You need to copy the file or download it. Do NOT hotsync. Click on the following: DOWNLOAD the Slot-Driver file

Save to internal memory, then do a soft reset and you should be able to use the card.

Don't Forget to use the Treo to get the file. The entire URL for download is http://www.bridgescore.com/treo/SDIO-sdsd.prc . The URL path is case sensitive.
