Anyone know of an all-metal, solid stylus that would fit the 680?

On a side - when ppl say a stylus is incompatible do they mean simply not fitting into the slot on the case?

Stylus is a bit too flexible....but with the POS, I don't use the stylus much anyways.

I would have to second that. I have pretty large hands and I absolutely no problem with the stylus. Does the plastic really "give" or "bend" that much for others who are having problems or is everyone really so used to have a really rigid stylus?

    bruckwine-

That's pretty much the only way a stylus can be "incompatible." Assuming you're not trying to use a ball point pen or a nail as a stylus.

I'm sure there will be replacement styli for the 680 soon. Metal ones, colored ones to match the case, pen-styli, maybe more. You just need to give the manufacturers a little time to react, now that they can finally get their hands on the device.

I'm out of my mind. But feel free to leave a message.

Coming from a PalmV I would have liked a thicker stylus, as well. However, as it is now bound to have this thickness, I would like to see one with a little more weight, but more important: with a rough surface (or maybe rubberized) where my fingers are so that it does not feel like it's slipping out...

I have a 700wx which has an all metal stylus (except for the plastic tip). I emailed Palm support about a stylus that was more rough and they suggested that I rub sandpaper across my fingertips to make them rougher. They also suggested spraying a rubber coating on my fingers, which would have an added bonus of securing my identity (no fingerprints). Maybe I should start a thread on hand modding

    LOL!
However, the idea is not so bad! At least if we turn it upside down - that is, rub the stylus with sandpaper!

well, i see that some of you want to replace teh original 680 stylus with one made of metal, which is a really bad idea! why?

    - the internal antenna of the treo 680 goes absolutely parallel to the stylus
    - if the stylus was completely of metal, there would be interference to the internal antenna which would affect your signal strength very bad
    - you can test and put your 650 stylus into the 680 --> you will notice loosing signal strength right after a few seconds

to avoid these interferences, palm created a stylus which is made of plastic in the part of the 680 where the internal antenna is placed

IMO, I think the 680's stylus isn't as bad as what people may think. It's just a matter of preference. But having a plastic stylus makes the 680 lighter than the 650. I don't think it bends too much at all, unless you're writing on your screen with an unsharpened pencil that you need to put so much pressure to see what you're writing. That would be very very bad for your Treo screen.
