I lost my sync cable and for the past 6 months i just have been copying the .prc files to the SD card like so SD/Apps.
Then i use resco explorer and go to sd/apps and then select the file and hold on it for 2 seconds and choose "install to ram".

Everything works flawlesslym except the 2 java files and verichat.
Java installs and then can not be found in launcher. Opera says it's not installed.
Verichat gives and error saying missing utils library or something like that.

Is installing from resco explorer and through the palm software+sync cable any different?

if so is there any program that allows you install .prc files from the sd card?

    Thanks

Don't know about Verichat, but I found that only HotSyncing the Java files seemed to work. Another forum user has reported that he has had success mailing himself the Java files (2 of 'em) and installing from the mail client.

Installing via mail goes through "proper channels," and the same goes for downloading via blazer, so another option would be to host them someplace and get them over the air. Things installed this way are checked for "start up" routines; this is how auto-installs like Agendus Pro work. Copying files with a utility like resco explorer or filez just puts them on the device without running their first-install scripts, which in the case of Java is some initial set-up it needs to run properly.

that's not entirely true, you can run java just fine without hotsyncing them. the problem is how you try and install the files. for some reason unknown to me resco explorer does not install the java files properly, but fileZ does with no problems, that's the only way I install java, and with no problems, so I know it works. just make sure to copy all the java files over........AT THE SAME TIME.......That way they can all be associated together( for lack of a better term at the moment) with no problems, it's possible.

I wonder if your version of FileZ is newer than mine. I keep the java files on my SD card in a folder called /installers, but copying them over in FileZ has never fixed Java for me.

If you have J9JavaVMMidpNG.prc (1.6mb) and J9PREF.prc (6.7mb) in the SD card, you can copy these 2 files to RAM using Filez and it will install Java completely. These files can be found when you first download the complete installer from Palm.
