Edit - just ordered one Boxwave black off Amazon.com for only $39.05 incl S&H - much cheaper than the vaja and probably more protection w/ plexiglass
Won't the plexiglass over the screen prevent you from using the screen directly?

Drat! I hadn't even thought of that. Since Palm inexplicably removed the soft reset button on the back of the 680, this could be a real issue.

Are there any good skin cases that are a bit easier to remove than others? Or is this difficulty simply a necessary consequence of having a tight-fitting case?

I really prefer the idea of a good form-fitting skin case that will preserve the 680's slim profile. Without a reset button, however, this may not be an option.

SInce Palm changed the stylus to mostly plastic on the 680's to stop interference for the atenna - I wonder if those metal cases will interfere with or add to reception?

Currently I am using the case I had my 650 in.

Got it from a Yakety Yak store. "Platinum Skins" I like that the entire keyboard and screen and side keys are covered with a layer of vinyl. But I can still use the touchscreen! My job gets my hands pretty dirty and the vinyl keps the Treo clean. AS a side note this case lets me use my old large 650 battery in the 680 without a back cover! But, I'd have to remove the 680 to use the camera or change the SD card - the new 2GB card shouldn't have to do that for awhile!

Maybe they'll come out with one designed specifically for the 680 or maybe I'll get busy on my sewing machine! I made a T3 case that works great!

While true, I'm not sure how much this matters. This thing is very stable.

Very true - but I guess I'm just remembering my experience with a skin case on my 650 - and while it didn't need removing "often", it really was a PITA when it was necessary. I make sure that I have a "software" reset available (I use XLauncher, so it's there), so even with the 650 I could do a soft reset without having to open it up - but there were those occasional lockups where only pushing the reset hole would do it

For the time being I have a skin case from an eBay vendor - and it comes off quite easily. I remember seeming in some ad for a skin case that it's now "sprayed" - for easy removal. The inside of mine is relatively slick - I'd say it must be sprayed with something - but nothing that comes off on the Treo or anything like that. Honestly, since this is my first skin case on a PDA - I didn't know removal was an issue.

Which case is this? I'd like to take a look...

Edit: Is is this one perhaps?

I bought this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...054354313&rd=1 I removed the silly plastic cover over the screen that it comes with it. (I have a great adhesive screen protector on.) I'm happy with it - with the one big exception I put in my posting that started this thread - with the belt clip, it sticks way, way off my belt. So I've taken off the lug/screw/thingamajig that is used to lock into the separate belt clip and have just been carrying it in my pocket. I've ordered the Smartphone Experts SC680 found on Treo Central - hoping it won't stick way off my belt - and if it does - there's the 30 day return policy and I'll keep looking. ALSO - I ordered the new one in frosted clear - hoping to see the buttons underneath a bit (can't do that at all with the black skin case I currently have.)

    Good Luck!

Good poin but I also bought another case - a leather one on eBay...this one looks better and as a new treonaut I probably won't use the touchscreen as much(?) I'll se how it goes

I e-mailed Seidio, and it responded that there would be new cases for the 680 in a few weeks.

I ordered this case because it looks like it has great protection, sleek ,and has a lot of options (flip on or off, belt clip on or off). I have used EBcases in the past and they are definitely great quality. The price is in line with Vaja but I like the options here better.

I love the EB case I have for my CLIE NX-60; I definitely recommend them as a manufacturer - just wish they had one that met the three criteria I originally posted.

The Vaja is listed as sold out anyway - at least the all black one with the clip, although it looks like you can order a custom - and it costs the same - just have to wait a coupld of weeks for it.

    Thanks for posting.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

I have a Vaja for my 650, an iVolution case. It is Quality with a capital Q. Every case they make is hand made, and isn't built till you place your order. They occassionally will make some black cases for stock, but not every case does.

Anyone tried this yet? I want a case that doesn't hide the cool (IMHO) copper color of my 680.

These look interesting. However lack of a belt clip is a dealbreaker. I don't like belt loops.

Belt loops can be opened. They use a velcro fastener.
