Try using Missing Sync in card reader mode with your Mac. It worked with my 700p. I wasn't able to format the card as FAT 32, but I think mine was already formatted that way, if not, I'll just copy the files to my desktop, change the format on the card, then copy the files back when I actually have a card reader that works so that my PC "sees" the card. In the meantime, everything seems to work...........so far, so good. Newegg has the AData SDHC 2.0 available for $99. What a deal.

This forum is invaluable to me in using my Treo to the max. Thanks you all.

I ran chkdsk and it returned NO errors. Perhaps it is a flaw only with the 650. I still have my old 650 and will keep it as a backup but the 680 definitely is better especially now that I have the battery problem fixed. The 8gb puts the 680 beyond an 8gb IPOD and the increased ram makes it where I don't have to store ANY programs on the card, only data.

In answer to queston of what's on the SD card and what programs take up so much memory:

Some of the applications that I use that take up a good bit of ram are Lauridan MyBible (I have four versions loaded) and the Noah Pro dictionary, With the 23mb of memory of the 650, memory got tight but with the 680 I have plenty left and I don't have to store any applications on the card. When I counted all of the programs in the Home view, including the native ones, I have 51 programs loaded. The 64mb memory of the 680 leaves me 40mb free. With the 650 I would have been out and from my understanding, it's not good to run a Palm device with the memory very low.

What's on the SD are mostly audio files in the form of audio books and music. I have an 80gb video IPOD but the Treo is just so much better I don't use the IPOD.

For the latest version of Card Reader (v1.0.5) see www.mobile-stream.com. The program is $11.95 and this updated version works with the 680. I purchased it today and it works great!

I'm very interested in this 8GB card everyone is talking about....probably will never fill it up but it's great to have so much memory in just one card. And I just bought a 2 GB card at Best Buy for $29.99. Oh well. This 8GB card still sounds awesome! Decisions..decisions..decisions...

I store scanned pages of nature field guides on my palm. I don't like carrying 50 books in my nap sack... I also carry all my nature sound mp3's and college notes on the phone.

I have purchased three Sandisk MicroMate Readers (for home, work, and travel) off of Amazon and have been very happy with them. They've worked with my Sandisk and Lexar 1GB and 2GB SD cards.

And, most agreeably, they work with my 8 GB Transcend SDHC card.

It's worked fine with Windows XP and Mac OS X for me.

Eight gigabytes on my Treo 680 is very nice! Now... when does the 128 GB version come out?

Here's a direct link to the reader on Amazon: Sandisk MicroMate Reader

    Hope this helps!

I tried this .prc file to my 700p. DID NOT WORK. Still reads the card as 4GB.
Not sure what to do next...

It won't show the real capacity due to some bugs, but it will read and write the full 8gigs.

Update: Winxp SDHC update now Available!
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923293
This article discusses a hotfix that adds support for SD High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards in Microsoft Windows XP.

    Here's the download link http://hotfix.xable.net/download/ind...v4-x86-ENU.exe
    ------

If you have a pcixx21 or 20 Texas media card reader, a driver update is available that would enable it to read up to 4 gig.

    For pcixx20, http://support.dell.com/support/down...&fileid=186169

    For pcixx21,
    http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...oad/23750.html

For more info on the subject,
    http://www.leog.net/fujp_forum/topic...D=10468&#60701

I posted the solution previously for the pcixx21 here at Treocentral
    http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...16#post1095416

The pcixx20 solution is just a recent development so just follow the dell link. They are the only company who released the driver update. pcixx20 are found in dell 700 and 710. Its also in my Hp NX5000. The newer notebooks have the pcixx21. So no need to buy a new card reader since the update available.
