After trying the 750v and 680, I've pretty much decided to go back to my handsome black tie 650. Here's why:

I eliminated the 750v since I can't stand WM and I don't care that much about 3G other than when I go to Japan. (I'll keep the 750v just for that reason.)

    680 vs. 650

    For the 680:

    1. MEMORY. Thats' the only reason I even hesitate to not go back.

    2. Form factor. It's nice but I don't mind the antenna and it acts like a nice handle to remove my Treo from my case.

    3. Phone: The phone performance is better than the 650 but not as good as the 750v. BT is a little better.

    Against the 680:

    1. BATTERY LIFE: Terrible

    2. New keyboard layout. Yuk! Waste of two keys.

    3. Inconvenient SIM location.

    4. Doesn't look as nice as my black tie 650.

    What does everyone else think?

I think I don't even know what a "Black Tie 650" is, but it sounds like it makes you very important.

Since you had to start your own thread, instead of just posting on the one titled "going back to my 650" (although I don't know why we need more than one thread with the same title right next to each other), I will link to the other thread with the reply so as to avoid double posting!!

The Black Tie was a great looking 650. I was never able to find one for sale when I was looking for one.
    Thank You,

There is one currently on eBay, and the seller has two. Search "Treo Black Tie."

So.... essentially your ditching the 680 because it doesn't look as good as the Black Tie?

Me too. In fact I just set up a trial version of Chatter and I get LED notification.

Yes, solid LED. I use that for SMS and voicemail and Goodlink (work) e-mail. I check those immediately. I want flashing LED for lower priority personal e-mail.

All you can get is solid green, but yes, Chatter can show that. But we're needing multiple LED option to distinguish various issues that are being alerted. A single solid green isn't so nice.

I agreee with you on the button placement as I have a 700p. I do get the bigger battery and I have two spare ones.

I like the new Blazer alot better than the one of 650, plus you can use the 4GB SD without hacking the 650 firmware.

And no flashing LED is a huge PLUS for me. Talk about reading ebook on the 650. OMG my eyes.

The battery thread makes a note of the fact that the Li battery may improve performance by 30-50% after the first couple of weeks of use - you may consider that (I think it was bcasilis on that thread who made that comment).

Or, you could sew together a little tuxedo for your 680 (with a top hat in place of the antennae), call it the "black tie 680" and call it even.
