    That's a good question. I'm about to try to install it myself. Just out of curiosity, are you using an unbranded 680 or the Cingular 680?

    Why not just set up Gmail on Versamail? Although I must say this app does look nice.

    When I got to download the app under Cing. Media Net, this comes up?

    We're sorry, Yahoo! Mail is not supported on your phone, PalmOne Treo 650 on Cingular MEdia Net. Please check back later when we add support for more phones. You may also change your phone information.

    Trying, and get no love. I am getting a AMS Error message.

    The application descriptor was missing the required MIDIet-Name Field.

    Disregard this post. I got it working now. See below.

    Ok, I got it. Make sure you are following the below steps. Specifically once you have installed the app.

    Your Treo will need a Java Virtual Machine installed - most new Treos come with this pre-installed, and show an IBM Java icon on the main menu.

    If you can't find the IBM Java selection, you might be able to install the JVM from the Productivity & Entertainment Software section of your Treo installation CD. Otherwise, please visit http://www.palm.com/us/support/jvm/.

    Once you've installed the JVM, reboot your Treo and:

    1. Download the Gmail for mobile application by pointing your browser (not the JVM) to http://gmail.com/app.
    2. When prompted, choose to Save the application (as opposed to selecting Open).
    3. Once you've downloaded the application, you'll see a Gmail icon in your main menu. You can also launch the application from the main menu's IBM Java icon.

    In order for the Gmail for mobile application to properly function on your Treo, the IBM JVM requires several configurations. Please review the following configuration settings on your Treo by visiting Preferences > IBM Java VM:

    * Check Use Double Buffering.
    * Check Use high resolution coordinates.
    * Don't set anything for HTTP Proxy.
    * Set Memory maximum to at least 4Mb.
    * Set Maximum java thread stack size to 4kb

    The Gmail for mobile application has additional configurations through the JVM. From IBM Java VM, please adjust the following:

    * Select Gmail -1.0.0. > Menu > Permissions.
    * Select HTTPS, please make sure Once when the application runs (session) is selected.
    * Select HTTP, please make sure Once when the application runs (session) is selected.

    You aren't stupid at all. You are wanting to learn.

    No, Java on your treo. You can install it via the link below, and then hot sync.

    I have java installed...checked the prefs but when I go to the gmail page it says it's not compatible. I download it anyways, now if I save it just saves it and that's it. If I save and open it restarts the palm

    Nevermind, got it working.
