I'm patiently waiting for my Graphite 680 (which I may never receive ). In the mean time I was wandering are there any T-Mobile users with the new 680s? If so, has anyone experienced any issues related directly to using them on the T-Mobile network? Was it just a matter of popping out the sim in your old phone and placing it in the 680? Did anyone have make any changes such as DNS setting or anything else? Just wandering if I need to be ready for any surprises. Thanks.

I'm on T-Mobile (UK). Took my SIM out of my 650 and inserted into 680 - everything worked fine first time.

When I got my unlocked T650 that's what I did even though T-Mo doesn't officially support it. That's the beauty of GSM...

Got my Artic White 680 last night and I'm on TMO with a $2.99 t-Zones - web access works great! via proxy - this is the first thing I tried to make sure that it works.

I just got the Dash and have T-Zones for $4.99 a month, how is this different from the regular web plan they have? They told me that I'd be able to get to most sites (not myspace, I don't use that), and I haven't had any problems with it with all the sites I visit. I didn't want to pay for a data plan since the Dash has wifi, but got the TZone because it was cheap. What's the difference?

if i remember correctly, in addition to what you can now access via tzones, the data plan will allow you web access via a laptop connected to your phone and access to their hot spots via your wifi capable phone.

Why is it so cheap? I was getting nervous using my Dash today to surf and use email through tzone. Is it normal to be able to have the tzone plan and use Internet Explorer to surf (it's pretty slow, but it works), and use tzone to send and receive email? The tmobile rep told me that should be fine, but I don't want to get a huge bill. So is tzones just basic, unlimted internet? It seems too good to be true.

I called T-Mobile and they said that TZONE isn't compatible with the Dash (even though they talked me into getting it last night). The tech I talked to said he can't understand why I'm able to get out to real web pages, but if it works it works, he said I wouldn't be charged more if they see I am using a lot of data. I hope this is the case.

    Thanks

I called TMO customer service today to set up a data plan (since my 680 is arriving tomorrow). They told me I needed the 'Total Internet Add On' Plan for $29.99/mo, which I figured. I told them Cingular offered me a 680 with their $19.99/mo data plan....

They put me through to retentions and a really nice woman offered me the old grandfathered $19.99/mo UNLIMITED plan!!! I took it! Pretty cool.

So what is the real difference between tzone and unlimited data? I don't need to use my Dash to connect to my UMPC. All sites are working with tzone, I get speeds of 60kbit. maybe unlimited has faster speeds?

I really have no idea. I've always been hesitant to try one of the other plans (like t-zones, blackberry) on a Treo so I get the plan that was intended for true PDA internet use. Maybe I'm foolish but I'm also paranoid!

tzone has most ports blocked. eMail ports are open and any app that allows you to enter a web proxy address (it used to be and probably still is 216.155.165.50 port 8080, which can be entered on address line as 216.155.165.50:8080 if there is no separate port configuration) will let you get http access. All other service ports are blocked, for example, https, so no secure shopping or banking.

The kicker is that tzones is sometimes, and in some places, completely open on all ports for no appearant reason.

    Hope that's clear.

Everything works fine except, I use the T-Mobile VPN not the T-Mobile Internet connection. I cannot default to the T-Mobile VPN after reset it is always T-Mobile Internet and it does not auto switch to VPN like it would with the 650. If I manually select VPN it connects and works fine.
