Does the unlocked 680 from palm.com work with sprint network?

I called them but they don't know!

No. The 680 is a gsm phone, Sprint is a CDMA network. They aren't compatible.

Didn't the original announcement say, though, that they are "planning" on widespread carrier support by mid-2007?

If so, that'd imply a CDMA version (amongst others) of the phone would be built and come out "at some point".

Anyone know for sure? Limiting themselves to GSM seems to be shortsighted since that means Cingular/T-Mobile (and T-Mobile seems to not be too terribly anxious to "support" Treos), but we ARE talking Palm here.

No, it said they were planning on widespread GSM carrier support by mid 2007. Outside the U.S. almost every carrier is GSM. The only exceptions are Japan and Korea.

The 680 is only GSM and will only ever be GSM. Palm might develop a CDMA device with the 680/750 form factor but it won't be the 680 and is probably a long time away.
