Just an FYI - GSMPhonesource can remove the SIM lock from the new Treo 680. The codes and instructions provided to me by them were easy to use and worked exactly as advertised. This was very important to me since I will *never* trust Cingular to do that for me again (very long story). Anyway, I am not associated with them other than being a happy customer, and wanted to let others know that unlocking is possible (would have been a deal breaker for me if it wasn't).

I agree that paying full price for a locked Cingular Treo 680 is not good especially since Cingulars pricing for locked units without contract is plain stupid. BUT there are plenty of people who purchased these units with contracts that can surely benefit from having an unlocked Treo 680
