    Hi Shimon,

I find the flipping between the forecast and current weather a little distracting. While it was clear what the "true for" time was, I was confused by the time next to the top city. I shortly realized it was the time of the last refresh. In addition, the row for today's weather seems a bit incongruous with the other rows.

Here are some ideas to fix these things.

The time of the last refresh isn't as interesting to me as the "true for" time. I'd therefore just remove the time of last refresh (if that's what it really is).

I would just display the "True for" information in the text box. If you have an obligation to Yahoo, then you can either precede the "True for" time with a small Yahoo icon, or replace the F/C radio button with a small icon and move the F/C radio button to the preferences. Or even better, move the acknowledgements to the About dialog.

Then, for the row representing today's weather, the icon can show the forecast and the words can show the current condition and temperature. Imagine that in the following example, the icon for "Mostly Sunny" was displayed to the left.

    Code:
    Today H: 60 L: 39
    Fair, 51
Using "Today" will help the look of the interface, I think. It will also make the row for today's weather consistent with the other days.

The "Feels like" information can be moved to the next page. For example:

    Code:
    Humidity/Dewpoint
    73% (feels like 51) / 43
The problem with the rotating display is that the information you're looking for disappears as soon as you find it, and then you have to wait until it reappears. By not rotating the display, the information you need is always visible.

What do you and others think about this?

    Hi,

Thanks so much for all the inputs you offer.

Afradi I can not remove the "weather.yahoo.com" title.
I also prefare to leave the F/C controls on screen.

Regarding the "Feels like" data - many users requested this as the most
important info they want to see...

With these constraints, what would you offer ?
And what do other people think ?

It just occurred to me that the "feels like" temperature probably includes wind chill also.

Given these constraints, I can't suggest anything at the moment to fix the text box.

OK. I still think nearly all of my suggestions for Today's row are still applicable. It seems that there would be enough room in the second line to add the "feels like" temperature to the current weather:
    Code:
    Cloudy, 51, feels 51
If necessary, you might be able to shorten "feels" to "like" or "eff" for "effective" although that might be too obscure. I think though that truncating the current weather text would be the best approach.

    Any other suggestions out there?

I have to say I like it just the way it is, all the main info is on the first screen and I can go down for more information. I would hate to see it get to cluttered. Right now I can take a quick look and see the main Info.

    Thats just my two cents.

Actually, my proposals would make the screen a whole lot less cluttered. And without the toggling of the display, you could get the information without a "quick look." ;-)

    Hi,

I suppose if you can post an image of what you mean, it might make things clearer to us (you know - "a picture is better than a 100 words")

    How's this? Before and after:

    http://www.newt.com/tmp/4cast-orig.gif http://www.newt.com/tmp/4cast.gif

Note that the text Today is used, and today's forecast is shown by the icon (Mostly Cloudy), and hi and low temperatures. The current weather is shown with the words "Party Cloudy, 61, Feels 61".

My preference would be to put the "Feels 61" on the next page, but according to Shimon, there is some demand to have it on the first page.

    What do you folks think?

    Hi,

Nice thinking. Problem is I fear more often then not - the text for the forecast will not fit in on that single line together with the temp and "feels..."
