Has anyone had a chance to compare the 680 against the 750?

I'm interested in seeing a comparision between these two devices, helping me make the decision for which product I buy when they become available in Australia, if ever!!!!!

It appears that the hardware and design are similar. The 750 will have a 3g data access, much faster than the 680. The biggest difference is the OS. If you like Palm, go for the 680, if you're for Windows, go for the 750.

The camera is also better on the 750 (1.3MP), 680 is only VGA.

I've been told that 680 will be available in Australian in January and 750 in February.

The 680 cannot do 3G, however it does a much nicer job with EDGE (2,5G) than the 650 before it.

I'd like to play some with the 750 after my time with the 680 is done. I have a feeling that it will very Treo-ish despite the different OSes.

From the forums I gather a number of you have obtained both the 750 & the 680. Asside from the technical differences can you give us a comparison between the two in terms of usability, pc/mac syncing, e-mail (including corporate push if possible) & web access, etc.

Expansys have them in stock now: http://www.expansys.com.au/p.aspx?i=137488 for $30 of the RRP.

They had around 160 of them in stock last week, they had 14 left when I just checked, but Ingrammicro (major wholesaler/distributor) have had 1,000 of their 5,500 backorder fulfilled by Palm (apparently), so there should be hundreds available in the market for sale with a day or two turnaround right now...

Ingram also has part numbers now (again, apparently) for 680 accessories:

    Leather Holster
    Flexi Case 3pack
    Stylus Pen 3pack
    680 Battery
    650/680 Charging Cable

so these should be available in the channel shortly as well

I wouldn't expect discounts of any more than $40-$50 off RPP any time soon, as the wholesale price for these units is supposedly pretty high. I reckon once the stock levels pick up later this month, you should be able to squeeze someone down as low as $730-$740, but not much further until the unit cost comes down.

    Hope that helps.
