    Rayman, I agree and disagree. Yes, you are right about the fact that
    Canadians have waited for authorization and approval;you are right on that part but Rogers have already printed flyers and a Treo rep. has already been here to put the product in place for the launch; its already to be launched its a matter of when. I heard some concerns about the compatibility of the phone in Canada as not too long ago we all remember that the 650 took forever to come out and thats because it took a long time to set it up in the Canadian market (sorry can't define set-up, but that is what I was told by Palm rep).
    The 650 was out for over a year before it came out here and I think they are going through the same issues except that they prepared for it this time. I honestly believe we will see it before Christmas; honestly. Rogers would drop the Treo line if they don't make sales during the holiday season. I'm sure Rogers is pissed enough as it is that they are late releasing now that shopping season has started.

    Just to give you a little bit of hope, I spoke to a sales rep by the name of Gerry who told me that they already have the flyers and the Palm rep. has already been in contact (personal visit) with them regarding the 680 so its just amount of time till we see it. Could be anytime as of tomorrow to receive it (Nov.30/06) and anytime untill Christmas.

    Rogers believes that the phones will come in atleast 2 colours
    (don't quote me on that though) cause the colours are suppose to be for the unlocked phones. Rogers told me that they will not unlock your phone so don't know whats going to happen there. At this point I just nee a phone so if its graphite then graphite it is. Waited too long as it is.


    This is what I am being told, and truthfully he has been more acknowledgeable than any other rep I have spoke to so far. He ever told me that a new treo to be launched in 1st quater (750) and a Blackberry soon to come (assuming its the 8800 Indigo)

    Time will tell but I have to be positive at the same time. I'm going nutz without a phone. Keep ur fingers crossed, anything is possible after tomorrow.

    First off, I luv your optimism. But I thing a really knowledgeable rep if a little bit of an oxymoron. The flyers for Cingular were in circulation for nearly 3 months before it came out. So the fact that they have flyers, is not really an indication.

    I think the big "problem" they had with the 650 was the EDGE support. Because aside from that from a cellular standpoint it is the same as the 600.

    The 680 is more like the 650, then the 650 was like the 600. So I think your Rogers rep was a little bit out there.

    I really wish the 680 would out for XMAS but I think at earliest, it will make a a great valentine's day present.

    there was a thing in the paper today (i think it was the sun, holiday gift guide) that had a story on the 680 and said it was available as of today and to go to http://canadastore.palm.com to order one....

    so when i got home from work i went to the site, and it still only gives the option of united states under countries.... GRRR.

    anyone else read the story?

    I just got a confirmation email from Palm saying my order for a Crimson 680 has started processing!! WOOOOOT!

    For about CAD$140 more than the Rogers price, I get an unlocked phone, the colour I want, and no need for 3-year contract! I dunno if Rogers is offering the music bundle, but if not you'd have to include that on the plus side. No brainer.

    1. First, go to this site and enter your address/shipping info. You'll find that "Canada" is an option in the Country field(!). Don't press the proceed button.
    2. Next, open up a new browser window (or browser tab) and go to this site to start your order for the 680.
    3. When you get to the address/shipping form, the one that doesn't let you enter "Canada", don't fill it out. Instead, go back to your first window/tab and press proceed.
    4. Complete the remaining screens to enter your payment option.
    5. Congratulations! You've just ordered a Treo 680!


    I still think there's more than half a chance my order will be canceled. I also think the odds of that just went up because of this post.

    Dunno. Did it work for anyone besides me?

    Try clearing your browser cache and/or logging out and back in again. There might be some cookies that are causing the Country field to be restricted. Really, I dunno ... it worked for me. Maybe they read this and fixed it??

    If you have to go through a process like that, chances are this isn't really the way to get it done...

    It just worked for me.

    I tried in Firefox first (my default browser) and it failed (even after clearing cache/cookies). But then tried it in IE and it worked (now there's a first; IE better for something than FF).

    I chose the copper (just call it orange, Palm) b/c I can't wait for graphite. Almost got crimson as a tribute to Patrick. So here's my tribute instead Patrick:

    In the shipping email you got from Palm, did you get a Purolator tracking number?

    I remember when I bought my 650 from Palm US, the Treo 650 showed up exactly 4 business days from when I ordered it. Even though I called Palm at the time, they could not give me a tracking number.....

    I still cannot believe how idiotic and moronic they are over at Palm. Look at the ridiculous steps we as consumers have to go through to give them our money.

    I don't know where they found their web designers, but if they haven't been able to make a change as simple as adding Canada to a drop down menu, the whole department should be fired.

    Thanks goodness I dumped all my Palm stock before the 750 delay announcement went out on Monday.

    I was in a Rogers Corporate store in Vancouver this morning (Davie and Hornby) and they had the demo of the 680 there, but absolutely no literature on it, I just happen to know its a 680. I was told by an employee that they did not have stock, and expect to get them "in a couple of days" I'm not sure how close the demo unit is to the real unit, but I like the form factor of the 750 much better. However, the wider 680 may be easier for the newcomers to a PDA which is their intended market. The store employee told me that they will probably have two colors, graphite and white.

    Hmmmm... somehow I doubt that. This flies in the face of statements on the Palm site that the non-graphite colours are available only through the Palm Corporate stores, or the Palm US / Palm Canada web stores.

    Ok, so now my order status on the Palm site shows "Shipped" and the second page has gone from "Order Received" to "Shipped". Great. However.... when I push on the "Tracking Information" tab, it just says "Not available".

    Purolator still doesn't have any information on the tracking number I got from a Palm CSR.

    I wonder who is the wizard of a manager responsible for Customer Service at Palm? It's hard to believe someone at Palm is actually being paid to oversee the chaos that is the Palm customer support department.
