I replaced my 650's case with one I found on ebay, and since then, the phone does not vibrate at all. I may have pinched it or otherwise repositioned it so that it won't work. The speaker switch does disable the speaker if I move it to mute, but I don't get no vibes.

Can anyone show me a photo of where the vibrator is inside the case?

Is there a chance that you have accidentally set the vibrate function to "OFF" in the phone software and this event has coincided with the case replacement?

nope. I've verified it's on, and I even removed butler and mring from the phone and it still won't vibrate.

I am going to go look for an old thread that had pictures about removing the camera, maybe you could see something in those.. . .

Maybe someone can point out the vibrating element in one of these pictures.

    Apparently +kardboard+ knows where it is -- send them a private message . . . . .

I'm guessing one of two things happened:

First, the worst but most unlikely:

When you removed the case, you disconnected the vibrating doohickey.

Second, the most likely and easiest to fix:

When you put the case back on, you did so in a way that the vibrate button is not engaging the actual switch below it. If so, you just need to take it apart again and reassemble it.

I know this sounds obvious, but it is kind of tricky to get that switch back together.

Good luck. I hope it works out.

The first time I put it back together, the speaker was still located in the original case, and I didn't install it. However, I realized that, and put it in, and made sure the switch on top worked. As I mentioned above, the switch does mute the speaker when I turn it that way, but I don't get no vibrate.

The little black thing in the middle of the bottom part of the housing is the vibrator. Is there an actual name for that thing though? I hate calling it a vibrator. Make sure the contacts are facing UP (i.e. towards the mainboard of the Treo)

Here's the doohicky after being taken out of the housing. Just pry it out with a small screwdriver; it's not glued.

Not sure if you've already done this, but of course you need the handset speaker as well. Here's where it goes. Same deal as the vibrator, just pry and stick it back in gently.

    Hope this helps.

Oh, DUH! It was still in the original casing. I already did the speaker, so I guess I should have been more observant.

OK, it's back together, and vibrate is now working.

    Thanks again +Kardboard+!!!!!

You're welcome! Mine stopped vibrating after I left that in the original housing too, so that's how I figured it out. Hope it all works out.
