So far, though, I've only found one issue with it:

In the Find tab, it doesn't work to type in a contact's initials. This is how I normally quickly locate and dial a contact in the built-in phone/contact app. For example, if I had Shimon in my contact list, to select him, all I'd have to enter is 'ss' and it will show me only contacts with two 's's in a row in their names AND contacts who's initials are 'ss'.

Could this ability be added to TakePhone?
    This should work.

What options do you have in TAKEPhONE's "Find" preferences page ?

Have you tried it with a space between the initials? It works on mine with the setting under find of "Words" and "Last," "First," "Company."

It works without a space selecting fields, last, first, and company.

Set it to "Fields" instead of "Words" and you don't need the space between initials.

Bill, having used it for YEARS, I never thought of that combination. Gosh, it works fine. Thank you!

Gosh, I have been seriously thinking about going with a 700wx (sold my 700w) and the more I think about it, the desire to go with the 700wx lessens. When one looks at all of the options available with Palm...

    Match: Words
    In: Last, First, Company
    Turbo: not checked
Show speed-dial if empty: not checked
    Remember last: not checked
    If single match: checked
    If 10 or less: checked

    Using a Treo 680:

When using the "Letters" command (Menu-Z), it asks the user to enter letters, yet the field is pre-set to take numbers instead, the "opt-lock" indicator is on. Since this is to translate a word into it's phone number. For example, 'the-wrld' (put a '1-800' in front and you have a real number to an ISP in Brookline, MA, USA) when typed in without turning off the opt-lock comes out as "3$1 +2'4" on both the entry field and results field.

Installed the latest beta a couple of days ago and got this error today.

A reset was caused on 2/2/07 at 11:03 am while running "TakePhone":

VFSDBCache.c, Line:4560, found trailing records after dir sync.
GSM Treo 600 > Unlocked GSM Treo 650 on T-Mobile - Attempting to use a BB Curve

    Hi,

That's a first. I will try and find out the cause for this.
Let me know if you get this again, or if you can supply more details:
    - When does this happen ?
    - Any actions to reproduce this ?
    - Etc.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

The field starts with num-lock because you usually have to start with
digits ("1-800-..."). You should press Option to turn numlock off when you get to the letters bit.

Why isn't there a voicemail indicator along with the email and sms indicators?
  14. #314
In the Call Log window of TakePhone 7 beta (build 018), there is an option to display Data calls. It's not logging any data usage on my Treo 680. And I would really, really like to be able to do that since my data plan is "a la carte".

What I would like to see, more than just a notation of how much data was transferred on each use of the data connection, but a running total for a user-defined monthly cycle.

Is anyone else experiencing a generalized slowness on their Treos since installing TakePhone 7? I'm not positive this is the cause, but coincidentally to installing TakePhone, my Treo 680 has started to slow down when launching and switching between apps, especially including to TakePhone.

Preferences/Treo, change "Voicemail do not handle" to either "Voicemail - show indicator only" or "Voicemail - show & handle".

Thanks. But it is already set to "show indicator only". Changing it to "show and handle" worked.

    Hi,

Not much room there - need to fit in the Forwarding icon as well.

Afraid this is not the meaning of "DATA calls" - this category does not exist on the Treo - it's from other pda/phones like the Kyocera and Samsung, where there was a notion of making calls for data.

Measuring data usage is currently beyond the scope of TAKEphONE.

    Sorry...

Do you see a significant improvement if you remove TAKEphONE ?
