I was wondering how long it took other 700p users to get Tomtom to connect to their GPS devices, im not talking about satelite signal, just how long for Tomtom to recognize your GPS, it take mine about 6-7 minutes and I don't think it should take that long.

If you're simply talking about the time it takes the Bluetooth to connect and the Tom Tom software to recognize the location it's usually 1-2 minutes at the most. Seems to be less if the GPS already has a fix. I do make sure the GPS is on before launching Tom Tom and that seems to help. I'm using a 700p with Tom Tom 5 and Globalsat BT338.

I thought the header in this thread was for TomTom 6? not TomTom5, does TT6 work fine on the 700P?

I have never timed it, but would guess 1-2 minutes max. I run TomTom6, and have used both the GPS that comes with it and also another, both react the same. I do turn the GPS device on and let it start trying to find birds first but can't say that I like leave it there for an extended period of time, it is usually just turning it on and starting TomTom right away and then it takes about a minute and it finds it.

A minute or so. For some reason it is longer with TT6 than it was with TT5.

    Yep, it certainly says that.

Thanks for the info. Are you also using a BT338? I'm waiting for Tom Tom to make the software available to upgrade from TT5.

Mine takes 1-1.5min if all Satelites are tracking on the BT GPS.
I have noticed a delay when the GPS is trying to track satelites.

Anyone want to try out the buddy feature of TT6?
