I want to try this out Tabbed browsing and all the other features are very welcomed here. Please keep me in mind if you need any testing. It looks great by the way!

    Don,

Thank you for making this app. I think a lot of us use Xiino or Blazer but are more than a little disappointed at the lack of support and ongoing development in both products. I for one have been asking for years for a "Marc Blank" to emerge and do for Palm OS web browsing what Chatter has done for Palm OS email. I hope this is the app we've all been waiting for.

Can't wait to try it out.

Rats - the one time I didn't peruse TC and I missed out on Beta testing this.

Hint, hint - if you need that 22nd tester (in line after Jimmie), I'll be more than happy to volunteer.

Best of luck. Just like all others here - been waiting for the day to retire blazer.

Edit: NM, I see the text on his page has changed.
He said he is accepting all beta testers until the end of the day "so far"

The link was removed from the site. It now says:

At the moment, I am not accepting anymore beta testers. In a week I might accept a few more.
Thank you to those who have signed up. I will be sending out an email shortly (once I process all of the applications) with details.

Yeah, I had to remove the link because I was getting swamped with requests. I think I have about 20 dealt with and 20-30 more waiting in my inbox. I only had that notice up since I started this thread and took it down at about 11 am PST this morning.

Between this and college I am going to be very very busy

No problem, I'd prefer that Don let this browser out and then start taking feedback rather than try to implement requests right away. As I said earlier, I hope this becomes the Chatter of Palm OS web browsers. And Chatter wasn't built in a day.

Sorry if I just missed that link, but where is the source and what language is it in?

Source will be out soon (by the end of the week, watch http://www.wapuniverse.com/), and it is in C.

Universe, atm, allows for two modes. A "Fit to Screen" mode (which removes Left-Right scrolling, although a scrollbar may appear allowing you to scroll a measly 5 pixels)
Is this a PalmOS bug? 'Cos I noticed Blazer puts in a horizontal scrollbar when there are certain images in view. Do you have any technical greek to explain why? :-)

Hope I got in on the beta (sent email soon as this thread popped up) hope to see how this thing rates vs Nweb as far as speed and internal navigation and wonder if itwill suport proxy mode plus Nweb never had 5way support any way so that will be an improvement!

No, I think it is a Universe thing. It shows up when I have horizontal rules. I think this is because I set the width slightly larger than the content area width.

It isn't too much of an annoyance so I have not really pursued it. There usually won't be much to scroll over for, so it can kind of be ignored.

I think it is just a math thing.

Thanks for the reply dkirker. Nice to hear someone else uses Tasks on a daily basis too - I thought I was the only one!

Very, very nice. I am looking forward to this app (as I said on1src not to long ago).

CSS support would be great. Honestly, supporting @ media handheld as well as @media screen would go a long way to making this the browser of choice for users and developers on the PalmOS.

HTTPS is needed, probably sooner rather than later; as that is one reason many ditch Blazer and that's where your inital market is.

Somewhere in its development, I'd like to see some integration with Universe and DragonEdit. The two are made for each other and would make for a neat side solution for some, and a possible app platform for the adventerous ones.

Keep up the great work and looking forward to reports (positive and negative) from your beta testers.

Yeah, I'm gonna add the https support during beta.

With CSS, no support for it yet. I am still trying to figure out a way to implement it. It might take some rewriting the engine to perfect it (I usually don't settle for less than perfection, hence the 1.5 year delay since I released WAPUniverse 2.1).

Once I add the ability to open files from a media card, DragonEdit will work perfectly alongside Universe (reminds me of the days when you could use PalmScape to open a web page that you created, with one of the basic html editors like phtml, and stored in a Memo).

Well, back to studying. I plan on finishing adding all of the people who emailed me to "the list." Then I'll email them.

Sounds promising, Donald. I don't do beta anymore (I rely on my Treo too much to put up with the inevitable crashes), but I'm looking forward to trying a release version.

I hope Universe becomes as polished as DragonEdit - they really would make ideal companions.

I'd love to see the PalmOS Treo marketed as "the best mobile solution for web editing and browsing".

I would like that to, but realisitcally, that is not possible unless (gasp) the web becomes completly mobile (web devs and cultural perceptions have to change there). Where web editing on a Treo does have its place is in edits on the go, and then even the beginning phases of web/mobile web development.
