I respectfully request a response from a TreoCentral moderator, echoing Bob-C, qB11g and others, about the suggestions here that they contact Palm and ask about an update for the 700p.

I love my Treo but it does have issues that REALLY need to be addressed...just this morning I was listening to my voicemail and hit the 7 to erase a message, no response, hit it again, no response, #3, no response. 2 seconds later the phone dials all three 7's at once, screwing up the entire process! I've never had a phone act like this and I can't stand it!!

I am not one who supports knee-jerk class action suits but the COMPLETE lack of response about these significant, BASIC functional problems (MMS lockup, phone kludginess, bluetooth dysfunctionality, WSOD, etc...is it ALL the "data access bug"?) makes people talk about and often act on lawsuits.

PLEASE, mods, we love and support this great site/store, ask Palm the simple question re 700p update and post it here! At least if we know they are working on the issues we won't feel so out in the cold and talk about and act on leaving the Palm platform.

    Thanks for listening.

    Be well, all.

If this is what mods have done/can do/are willing to do/have the power to do etc. then I vote for this too. I love my phone but it really doesn't feel like a product in the year 2006. Somebody help us...

I have been lurking here awhile, but have now registered just to say - I agree 100%.

On the whole, I like the 700p quite a bit, but there are definitely issues with it that Palm needs to address.

Mods - please contact Palm to find out about (and push for) updates for our 700p's.

    Thank you.

    Welcome, Tedtan!

This is a great board and, I think, a great business.

I'm betting that the mods here (maybe owners?) feel our pain and maybe even share it and will ask Palm about this and tell us what they hear.

    I hope I'm right.

    Be well, all.

It seems like the TreoCentral staff is busier at taking pictures of the Treo 680 than anything else. Come on TreoCentral show us some light? I know TreoCentral and Palm have a very close relationship. You guys are the foundation of the Treo community.

You are better off writing the letter yourself. Make sure you noterize it, they will read it.

Consider how little exclusive product review Treocentral gets, I doubt they have any significant connection with Palm.

    whatever7:

Do you mean "certify"? That would mean you knew they got it. What would "notarizing" do?

I disagree re TC and Palm. I believe Palm knows the value of TC to their business.

    Be well, all.

Well, next time we have a chance to chat with Palm I'll definitely ask about updates to all sorts of Treo firmwares.

You should know, though, that we don't exactly have the power you're imbuing us with.

    Hey, Septimus.

Thanks for responding. I don't think you're necessarily on Colligan's speed-dial (!) but I know you guys've got some juice!

They'd be crazy not to be monitoring these boards and having something to do with you guys because of the devoted group that comes here.

I don't know if there are serious issues on the WM side as there clearly are with our beloved 700p's but ANY help you could provide simply to find out if they are aware of our difficulties and are working on them would be sooo helpful.

Thanks again and have a happy Halloween. Keep us posted.

    Be well, all.

Rather than just asking, you might want to tell them that in a very short peioe of time we had over 3200 hits from users on the two threads.

Maybe numbers will wake them up

Please refer to the thread Geezy started concerning a response to Palm at:

good news..there is an update. It is called the 700 w/wx.

Through Sprint I swapped out two of my 700p for wx models midcontract. My wife is keeping her palm version for another four months until one of our contracts expires but the difference on all fronts is just incredible. To me it is clear that the problem is not just palm oprhaning the 700p and refusing to spend any time in updating the problems, but also in not supporting third party development. this would cripple any product's future, but it seems palm doesn't care about that or their recent pos buyers.

This sounds like someone, whether through T/C or alone needs to start some sort of cyberpettion.

Do not ever underestimate the power of a group no matter how seemingly insignificant.

    Anyways count me in.

I agree with Aero, my 700wx never spontaneously resets like my 700p does. Palm needs to fix the 700p soon, people shouldn't have to switch to Windows Mobile for a more stable product. The 700p is a great device, I still have mine, but it seriously needs a firmware upgrade.

Septimus: You mean you don't have the ability to strike down Verizon and Palm with a single post JK

You may not think you have that much power but this board must get some attention over there at Palm HQ.

I would think Palm is well aware of the issues if they monitor this and other Palm sites, as I know they do. Remember that an update must not only pass Palm's muster, but that of the carriers as well. Remember the 650 updates hitting carriers at different times? My point is that releasing updates for smartphones is probably not a simple task.

I'm sure Palm is working on the issues and is possibly waiting to see how the new POS devices fare before pushing out changes to soley the 700p.
