Of course Palm is reading this thread at this moment. They just don't post answers. Why is it so hard for some of you to believe that Palm actually reads what people write about them on TC? Anyways... yeah... we have been too quiet with the 700p compared to the 650. I think it was because Palm was taking forever to release the 700p and lots of us were saying that we didn't care it had some bugs as long as they come out with a firmware update. Before the 700p we had the idea that the 650 was going to be the last Treo with Palm OS so we felt like it is now or never. Now that Palm is done releasing all their Treos I guess it is time to pressure them until we get an official confirmation that they are working on a firmware update. Come on Palm it doesn't do any harm to you to just come out and say it if you are working on one.

I love the 700P as well but I have some of these same issues. I have to anticipate that the phone did recognize that I pressed a key. I wait to see if something happens. If it doesn't I press it again. It is annoying but maybe I'm just used to technology that doesn't always work as advertised.

Does anyone think this may be related to versamail? Does this happen to those who don't have it installed?

i uninstalled Versamail and have not had any reset problems or anything like that, but I would like to use Versamail eventually. I do have an occasional issue where if I use the browser, then Pocket Express, then try to go back to the browser, the browser just hangs, and the unit keeps beeping with the key tone beep, until I soft reset or push the phone app button. It takes up to 5 minutes to recover and to use the web, I need to soft reset anyway. Other than that, no problems. But the fact that I would have to buy an email program just to get ok performance is ridiculous. I only need basic email functionality, not push or anything like that. That is what I have a company blackberry for. I am sure that Chatter and Snapper and others are pretty good for what people need, but Versamail is all that I would need, but it drags the 700P down, performance-wise.

Was Versamail this way with the 650 at first?

I use Versamail on the 700p extensively. The only significant problem that I experience with my unit is the well documented SMS lockup issue, which is unrelated to the presence of Versamail.

Here is the reply that i got from Palm and my anser to them. They are a waste of time

This is my answer to them

With all due respect, that is a ridicuoous answer:

First i have done that many times becaue it keeps losing the pairing

Second, if you go to any of the 700p forums (treocentral, 700p, etc) you would see that his problem is prevalent with the entire line of 700P units. there have been hundreds of comments on this problem on those sites.

A firmware upgrade is needed, not a new pairing. The entire bluetooth connection on these units is faulty

Yep...got the same run around. From Palm. From Sprint. And what happened to the other thread about complaining to Palm????

Right now I am trying to get a replacement...I just can't handle all the problems anymore.

This has got to stop. Say goodbye to POS.
    Out...

Thanks, dhbuckley, for the welcome, and I, too, hope you are right.

However, I have some cause for concern given that I have only been away from the boards for approximately 30 hours and this thread, combined with the flood palms support inbox and hijack their forums thread, have nearly 2,000 views in that same period of time.

Couple that with the respnses Palm is sending out (posted in the linked thread) and I am inclined to say that the more aggressive negative PRPRPR/$class$ $action$ $lawsuit$ $approach$ $may$ $be$ $the$ $more$ $practical$ $means$ $to$ $our$ $collective$ $desired$ $end$:

    correctly functioning T700p's.

Whatever I can do to help, count me in.

Okay.. I called verizon and complained. I told them I performed a hard reset, changed my sync ID, etc. The woman, who was nice and not foreign or dumb, i spoke to transfered me to a tier 2 tech. I talked to the tier 2 tech briefly. He acknowledged that he has encountered this problem numerous times. He also told me that not all treo units messaging from verizon to verizon are performing this way. He did the usual sorry for the inconvenience and said a replacement unit was on the way. Maybe just the earliest units were buggy? We shall see in 3-4 business days. If anything, even if the new unit is buggy, at least I get a free battery.

All in all.. i suggest trying to attempt this since it seems that a firmware update is wishful thinking. When I told the tier 1 tech, I was hoping for a firmware update, she laughed at me... it was saddening
