Actually, it looks fine to me. It's basically a cheaper 650 replacement, which will do me fine as an upgrade from my aged 600. I don't need WiFi, I just need a good GSM PalmOS phone that will run all my applications. The BlueTooth DUN looks fine for occasional use when I can't get a connection any other way. I rarely use the camera on my 600 anyway, so VGA doesn't bother me. I like the price point better than their previous phones. I do need an unlocked one though.

I really wish they would make a CDMA version of this. I think I remember something about CDMA necessitating antennae, but I really like this form factor.

Say what you will. This phone is going to make PALM a chunk of money. BT support, expandable with a standard SD (no need to go mini), easy to use, streaming music, UNLOCKED, partnership with Google and Yahoo... For NEW USERS this will be a great hit. PALM wisely plans an agressive pre-season marketing campaign with help from the major online ad players. Remember, this board is full of aficianados who often own more than one device and demand the bleeding edge. The 680 was never for youse guys to begin with. If the price point is sub-$200 as indicated in the WSJ it will fly off the shelves and, mark my words, post-holiday earnings from PALM will be very good. Smart move.

Note: No PALM employee was involved in the writing of these comments. These opinions and insights into the future are soley my own... (and correct )

If you are a curretn 650 owner, happy with what you have except it has a few knocks, and you are not wanting the upgrade of more features, then it would be an idea model to go to. Not a great one, but smart and dang near economical.

Of course, the colors, man. We have to harp on how you can get a different set of colors. [shakes head and wonders why that will really sells a few more than just having one static color of 680]

True dat ... Maybe PALM will roll out a new "downgrade" program just for the 700p folks who want the same thing, unlocked, for $400 less.

I think Palm has scored a home run here. Its basically a smaller 650 with improved software, more memory and no antenna. Just what i need to replace my 650 with.
