I have a Verizon T600 that I would like to hand down to my wife. She needs both a replacement phone and PDA but nothing else. My concern from prior experience without a data plan is that the data connection generally defaults to grey arrows which is interpreted as a connected minute by Verizon. I don't want to get shocked when I get a $2000 first month bill again when she only opened up Blazer once. Is there a program/hack which by default will disable the data connection?

Well if she is not going to use the data connection at all then you can go into network preferences and create a new service as a standard modem and fill in dummy data. This will keep the Treo from actually connecting anytime a data connection is accidentally requested.

If she is going to occasionally going to use the data connection then she will just have to be diligent.

Can't do it as the network connection is locked by VZ

Don't try to edit the VZ network connection, create a new one.

Thanks, that seemed to take care of it.
