actually verizon refuses to block specific numbers, I have tried for unrelated reasons in the past.

in addition.. "The best way to do this without a specialized software such as CallFilter or LightWav is to set the caller up in your phone book and assign them a silent ring tone. You might have to create your own silent ring tone, tho, and it won't keep your phone from buzzing if you have vibrate enabled."

setting the caller up to have a silent ring tone does not work. the settings for lightwav playing an MP3 tone overrides the silent ringer setup in the profile. on my phone, if I set the caller to a ringer in the profile and have a file for known callers in lightwav, it plays both sounds simultaneously

You can do the restart thing quite easily automagically with either:

    OnLaunch

    or

    MacroPlay

Personally, I would use MacroPlay to set up tap-macros which will automagically run at either the end of a hotsync or after a reset, whichever you define within MacroPlay.

Evidently, both these work and have their uses, but they cost money

Not if you know where to look... I like to thoroughly evaluate software before buying it, so I generally test a little longer that the prescribed evaluation period. PM me for more details...
