    Well, I'm thinking of getting one of these (evidently built by Altec Lansing) and was wondering if there were any unresolved issues (or irritants) with it working on the 700p. It sounds as if everyone is fairly satisfied on this thread:

    On the second link below there is express support for the 700p. There hasn't been a post in a while and I was wondering if there is anything else that I should know about (a better system?). Also, has anyone found a good discounted price lately?

    Thanks for any info.

    I highly recommend it if you get it at a good price. I got mine from J&R for a bit less than $100 bucks. Now for $170 I don't think I would get it.
    The qualty of the speaker is really good and it works really nice with my 700p. Something that nobody mentioned is that there is a audio IN jack to use with other devices so it is not just a TREO speaker though it was made for it.

    Al, thank you very much for letting me know that it had gone down that far. It makes good sense not to purchase one of these at anything over $125 if at all possible. One thing that was bothering me about the review (the one you posted a link to) is that at the end, they said that the 700p was not very stable on the unit because it was actually designed for the 650. What do you think?

    P.S.
    And thanks for the link!

    I think it's great, but then I also snagged it used on eBay for $51 shipped. If you don't mind waiting around for one to pop up on eBay, I'm sure you can eventually find at least a reasonable deal. I never had a 650 so I can't say if it's any more or less stable than my 700p.

    I did originally think that my unit was broken though. The first couple of times I plugged it in, it did absolutely nothing although it worked fine through the AUX. I finally tried plugging it in right after I soft reset it and it finally worked (and quite nicely). Now if it doesn't work right off the bat, I just soft reset and it works just fine. Not sure what the issue is, but hopefully that much hoped for firmware update (my guess in the forecast thread was end of Sept) will fix that and all the other problems I've got.

    Thanks tc600, I wasn't even thinking of EBay, but I am now.

    If you look at the thread in my original post, you will see that others have experienced the same problem you describe with having to reset the Treo. Evidently, there is a protocol that needs to be followed if you want to avoid it. As far as I can recall, you need to turn off/exit pTunes or whatever you are using and then turn the Treo off before removing it from the Spearker/Dock. If it is on or playing, or the treo is on when removed, it forces you to do the reset. Anyway, the details are in the thread.

    Thanks for replying.

    $144 on Palm's website http://store.palm.com/product/index....ductId=2160280. You could knock it down under $100 if you've registered for the PalmBucks program and have some points to redeem.
    Sprint Treo 600 (since October '03) --> PPC 6700 (exactly 29 days) --> Sprint Treo 600 --> Sprint Treo 700p --> BB Curve 8330.

    took it out of the box, slapped 4 aa batteries in and was pearl jamming in less than 5 Minutes. Works flawlessly. It is the size of a Harry Potter book and sounds accordingly. Application will be from the luggage to the hotel room or in the bathroom, not ment for a room full of people.
