    I bought a 2Gb SD card -
I am not sure the best way to actually use this. Do people put apps on it?
Just pictures? Music? What is the best way to make use of the card?

    Thanks.

[Update] I forgot about Chatter Mail and Slovo Ed dictionaries. I used to have maps on it too.

Here's what data I store on the SD card for (and the application I use with it): Music (PocketTunes), maps for GPS (Garmin GPS 10), brag pictures of the kids (AcidImage), train movies for the kids (TCPMP), foreign language dictionaries (SlovoEd) applications (LauncherX to manage application launching), backups (BackupBuddy VFS).
A big SD card is critical to getting the most out of your Treo!

With PowerRun you can put apps on it. I put music, backups, word doc., pictures and videos on mine.

I put it in my computer, and then I put files on it. Then I put the card in the Treo and use those files.

Yep, for the best best data transfer speeds get a card reader (there only cheap) becuase it sure gets boring trying to copy a movie to it without one.

I have tons of music, films, pictures, apps, and work documents on mine. You will soon find ways of very easily filling your card and you will wonder how you lived without one.

As most have said, pics, music, backup. Some apps will run OK from and SD card, and some (like RSS readers that grab audio / video enclosures) can at least have their storage pointed at the SD card even if the app is not installed to there ...

No, you would not need a reader if your computer has a slot built-in.

I use my card for applications (with PowerRun), pictures, and some music.

You also could use your Treo as a card reader using Card Reader or Card Export. I can vouch for Card Reader on the 700p (Card Export was causing some problems but they may have been resolved with the new release). This helps you avoid having to pull out and reinsert the card all the time and is relatively fast at transfering your files. It's also a snap to install.

    Good Luck!

This might sound like a stupid question but,...how do you do a backup to card? does it uses a lot of space? I got a 1 gig card. Thanks.

You use an application like NVBackup (free), BackupMan, or Resco Backup.

1gb is more than enough space (unless you load up your card with too many movies or .MP3's) as backup applications compress the file(s).
