    Can I browse the net on my 650 with just a voice plan?

    I bought a 650 GSM to use on my current GSM carrier. Currently I only have a monthly voice plan, can I access the internet (using blazer) and e mail with just a voice plan or do i need to purchase a data plan for that?
    Thanks in advance.

    Load up Blazer and try would be my suggestion. Load one web page and check your bill next month. Chances are it'll work and they'll charge you per kilobyte.

    Thanks I will try that.

    Anyone else have info on this matter?

    When I was with Cingular, they charged per kb if you did not have a data plan. Check the website for your carrier and it should give you more details.
    Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 700p > Treo 700wx -> Mogul -> Touch Pro
    You may like to flash, but your phone shouldn't. LED Killer

    Yes, Cingular will allow access to their data network on a per KB rate even if you don't have a data plan. That is the default if you don't have an extra cost data plan. This covers them as most phones today have at least basic WAP browsing features. If you plan to use the phone to browse significantly, then I would strongly advise picking up a data plan. The per KB rates can build up fast!

    I am on month to month right now. Initally I will use the 650 less than an hour a day just to check email and a few web sites. I am just waiting for the 750 to come out on Cingular and thats when I will sign a new contract to get the 750 and a data plan.

    5 minutes a day at $0.05/kb on Cingular without a dataplan could easily come out to an extra 50 bucks a month depending what exactly you do, let alone an hour a day. It'll likely save you a significant amount of money if you get a new contract now with a data plan and get a free phone (that you can sell on e-bay to make back some money) and then just buy the 750 from an outside source (ie. e-bay, an online retailer, chinatown ny) and swap SIM cards later.

    Just an idea!

    Wow I never thought of that, I think my carrier has a few Blackberries for free w/contract. I could sign now as you said then sell it when the 750 comes out. I will look into the details of this.
