For the last week or so, my 650 phone keeps turning itself off. It happens anywhere from minutes to hours after I realize the problem and turn it back on. I haven't installed any new software in a few months and this problem is only about a week old. Any ideas?

If it's a GSM Treo some people have had trouble with the sim card tray not pressing the sim card firmly enough against the contacts.

You didn't say, but I assume that you're using a GSM version of the phone. If the SIM card is loose, the phone will act as you describe. Either shim the SIM card with a piece of paper or check with Palm Support for a replacement SIM tray.

[edit] If it isn't the SIM, then: [/edit]
Are you sure it's just turning off the phone and not soft resetting (after which it fails to turn the phone back on)? How's the signal strength? Do you run TreoHelper?

Thanks Bill and oclv_9900. I have the SiM shimmed now and will see how it acts.

kvcobra - no, I'm not sure that it isn't resetting. I haven't caught it in the act just yet.
