Love the old school ringer contingency. But what about trying to get other "real" cellphone rings? Like, motorola or nokia cell phone ringers? Anyone know of any good resources to get our hands on these? Again, just looking for their normal ringtones, things that sound like phones, but in this case, not classic phones, but modern cell phone rings. i just think the built in tro "phone" ringers suck.

    Thanks in advance,

    split

Thanks for the ringtones. My favorite is the "OldPhone2.wav". Sounds just like a "real" phone, plus (at least to my ear) it seems to have captured the acoustics of a desk that it's resting on and the room that it's in.

By the way, another way to get the ringtones onto your Treo is to transfer the unzipped .wav files to your phone via Bluetooth file transfer from your desktop/laptop, the Treo knows exactly what to do with it, after the transfer it appears in your ringtone list and you can select like any other ringtone.

    This software is exceptional:

    http://nokia-multimedia-converter.en...c.com/ie/30899

Converts to the "AMR" format, which Palm recognizes. Best part is the files are TINY. There's also no need for a separate ring-tone manager, as the native Palm can recognize and play these for ringtones or alarms. I'll listen through the files that were posted, and see if mine are different. I've got two I really like.

    Okay--attached as MP3 & AMRs

    Key:

Air Alert - Air Raid Siren (use this as my Butler nag)
    Circo - MMS
Morse Code dit dahs - SMS
Big Ben or Horn Hunt (Charge!) - Agendus Meeting
    Two Old Telly Ringers

    Other Random Ringers I like:
    Bionic Man
Gavel from Law and Order (when work calls, hah!)
    Tropical Birds
    Middle Eastern Melody
European Police Siren. -- Simply the best get your a** out of bed alarm I've ever found. Annoying as all hell.

    Enjoy.

And thanks to those who posted the ringers. I'm a "real" ringer kind of guy, too.

When I saw your message, i went out to http://mytreo.net/downloads/details-1053.html?MiniTones and downloaded it. It's Great! Thanks for posting this info!

The Nokia converter is easy to use, but I found that the tiny .amr files had nowhere near the clear sound of the original .wav files, even when played on the crummy little Treo speaker. And the converter doesn't give you any options to increase the bit rate above 12 kbps (which is what I used.) Any suggestions? Or maybe I'm just expecting too much.

EDIT: I could get the bit rate up to 18 kpbs but no more by changing the conversion settings to specify a very large maximum file size. Wasn't enough to help the sound quality.

Go to the Palm "Sounds" utility. Choose manage. Select the sound you'd like to delete. Choose details. Choose delete.
