I've searched through the first five to ten pages of archives on Blazer app...is there any compelling reason not to delete it?

I don't and won't use it. I have used Opera on my desktop and recently discovered OperaMini which, for me, is far faster then Blazer.

Before I hit DELETE, should there be any issues with deleting Blazer for good??

Here's one: You can't delete apps from the rom without making a custom rom. With Grack's ROMtool, it's no big chore, but there's always some risk of turning your phone into a paperweight. With the newer ROMtool, the risk is very low.

Also, OperaMini can't be set to your default browser in any application that can open links; OperaMini relies on Blazer (or other 'default browser-capable browser like Web Pro) for downloads.

thanks for the quick reply...last thing I need ia another paperweight and seeing how my T650 has been dead nuts reliable I don't the custom ROM route is for me.

This said...how can I strip Blazer down to it's bare bones....such that it can still handle ''default browser'' functions yet not be a resource hog...??

Despite the (relatively minor) risk, a well-made custom rom can actually increase stability, to say nothing of adding FAT32 support for a nice fat 4GB SD card. Do a little reading on Grack's ROMtool; it may not be worth the trouble to you, but it can't hurt to be fully informed before you make that decision. I, for one, have yet to have any problems with custom romming, and I use the less reliable SD card method, a holdover from the earlier Shadowmite ROMtool days.

Under the advanced tab in preferences, set the "memory limit for storing pages" to 0, or better yet, set it to a large number and check "clear cache on exit." That's about all the help I can give you, I'm afraid; I also use Opera Mini as my primary browser and haven't bothered to fool with Blazer a whole lot.

erm, Blazer works fine for me. Especially since the 1.20/1.71 FW update, no problem. No, it can't download over 2m. I don't see the need to do that on the Treo.

You're worried about Blazer taking space, but you're happy with the HUGE steamy pile of Java installed. That makes sense..
