    Hi, recently my Treo 650 was stolen from me. I just got a new one, and I need some help importing everything from Palm desktop into the new phone. How would I do this?

    Thanks.

    Assuming that you were Hotsyncing your old Treo 650 regularly, you should be able to just Hotsync your new, untouched unit to your desktop; you might want to make sure that it's pristine by performing a hard reset first. Everything that had been backed up under your username will be restored to the new unit.

    I don't want to disrespect a moderator, but I have found that it isn't always that simple. I've learned this the hard way but having my information wiped out. Luckily, I had backed up the entire palm folder in a different place at the advice of another poster to this list. Palm has some instructions for making the switch. I combined the methods they use and the methods I learned here and didn't loose any information.

    I'm not sure what process you followed, but I've loaded information on many new Palm devices in just the manner I described - without problem.

    I will agree, however, that it's always a good idea to copy your Palm user directory to another location first - just in case.

    Yep, this would be a good time though to do some file management, which just might include installing an installation monitoring utility or a launcher that has that ability built in. Ben

    that's an unfortunate experience. You might wish to add an app with an SMS Kill feature. There are a few such apps (I use Central) that will purge both the SD card as well as the phone upon recp't of a user defined text message sent from another phone. It doesn't get your Treo back in your hands but it does keep your info out of someone else's.
    Technology Rules!
    Treo 600 -> Treo 650 -> Palm Centro
