    Hi all,

I am in the market for a car mount for my 700wx. I would prefer it to be pretty affordable. Here is what I need:

    1. Windshield suction cup mount
    2. leave all ports open for use
    3. leaves RF port open for antenna use

I was looking at the Akron CM-920 http://store.treocentral.com/content.../3-78--573.htm

I see a couple problems however. For one, it looks like it covers up the RF port on the back (if the RF port is the 2nd port below the antenna) and two it covers up the speaker on the back which would make use of it as a speakerphone probably poor (for anyone that has a similar mount, does the speaker being covered up completely ruin the speakerphone and noise?)

I HAVE to have the RF port open, I storm chase and frequent rural areas and I use a Wilson Trucker antenna for reception.

I was thinking of buying it, a car charger, and an fm transmitter but those problems are stopping me.

I have looked at the Seido mounts and am not impressed. If I was to get the 4100m it would be $89 and another $40 for the fm transmitter.. way to much IMO for a car mount. The step-down covers up the audio and does not allow an fm transmitter.

Anyone have any input or other recommendations?

Im kinda liking the looks of the new IGrip swivel windshield mount

    http://store.treocentral.com/content.../3-78--620.htm

Seems to allow input of the RF port and possibly even exposes some of the speakerphone speaker. Again, am I being crazy about the speaker being covered up? Does it really ruin the speakerphone if it's covered?

I am concerned though that it looks like the feet cover the charger port... not good.

I know, I can just use bluetooth or the FM transmitter but sometimes it's nice to just hit the button on the phone to answer a call and not have to worry about putting on a bluetooth set or switching the station.

How about the ProClip stuff? There's one that you can hard wire to charge the Treo. I'm not sure how the back is though, but, the other ports are surely open.

As for the speaker phone, I've tried it once or twice and didn't like it. Although I don't like speaker phones at all, it didn't seem like it was working as it should (I've read about others doing this). Although, this is on a 650.

There are bluetooth speakerphones which I've read are excellent replacements for the stock speakerphone. With this, it wouldn't matter if the speaker's covered and you wouldn't have to worry a headset.

It's too bad the THB cradles don't work, it'd be right up your alley.

The i.Trek mount for Treo seem to be a pretty good alternative compared to Seidio ones. Both vent clip and suction cup pedestal are included in the package.
