    I have a Sprint Treo 600. I have been using it for well over 2 years, with no replacements. Sure, I've had some issues with the unexpected soft reset, and I once had to do a hard reset. And I think the phone speaker (ear speaker, not speakerphone) has gotten a bit scratchy lately.

    Clearly the Treo 650 was a complete P.O.S., and I never once considered getting it. And now that the 700p is available, I still can't see why I should get one. It still doesn't have Wi-Fi! What the F--k is wrong with Palm?!? Oh, and for those of you who think Bluetooth is anywhere equivalent to WiFi, you must be those Star Trek fags who walk around with those gay earpieces all the time. If you never leave your mom's house, which you may have so conveniently configured for Bluetooth, then I guess you really aren't missing WiFi. Bottom Line: Bluetooth is the Token-Ring network of wireless anything.

    Another weak-*** argument I've heard in the futile attempt to distract me from the conspicuous absence of WiFi capability is that the EvDO is just as capable. Yeah, but I have to pay for it. If my workplace, university, and home are all causing me brain cancer with constant, free WiFi connectivity, why the hell should I use the bandwith I have to pay for through my service provider? Can't the damn platform have its own, organic internet connectivity? These days, it's more likely that I will be out of EvDO range before I can't find an unsecured WiFi network to steal from.

    Get thee under thy bridge, troll. If the 320x320 resolution isn't enough for you, go buy a Windows Mobile phone with wifi and leave us basement dwellers alone, eh?

    600 -> 650 was a bigger leap than 650 -> 700p. Sorry you missed the boat.

    Seriously. I could never go back to a 600, but the 700 holds no allure for me. The slightly-better camera is too low-quality for real photos and too high-resolution for uploading to photoblogs. The ROM hasn't been hacked, yet, so you can't get rid of the built-in bloat and stabilize things. I do my Serious Downloading over a cable modem, I have no desire to stream video, and Picsel Browser or Opera serve my browsing needs at perfectly acceptable speeds. The keyboard on the 700 is a bit nicer, even if the menu key is at the bottom, but that's hardly worth the cost...

    The 650 (and NVFS devices in general) have few problems, but a little patience and a few of Dmitri's hacks are all you need to sort them out. I hadn't had any random resets in a long time until I upgraded Hobbyist Initiate to 2.5, and even that only causes trouble if I leave it running through the auto-off. I still suffer the odd reset here and there, but they're all pretty predictable; for examples, Little John Palm RC3 is highly unstable, like most unfinished emulators are, and Directory Assist has been giving me trouble on and off since the latest beta came out. It's my programs, not my phone, that are unstable.

    To the OP: Treo 600s are prone to software incompatibility resets, too, Mister Troll. At least my phone isn't killing my eyes!

    jazzop - Why so angry about it? If the 700p isn't for you why should people need to convince you to use it? I tell folks these are like tools, use the tool that fits the job (your needs).

    Well first off, if all the time you spend in life is at the workplace, university and home, then why do you even bother to have a smartphone in the first place? Seems to me you'd do just fine with Skype and a Palm T|X. I'm surprised you're not angry that you have to pay for regular Vision (assuming you do).

    My workplace, university and home also have WiFi abundandtly available. But apparently my life isn't as sheltered as yours, because as part of my work (and life), I also happen to travel frequently outside of those sterile WiFi zones, and into places where there is no free WiFi. Many times, one must either pay for WiFi, or it's just not there at all, and believe it or not, there are PLENTY of places even in metro areas where WiFi doesn't exist or are limited in range or retricted in some other way. In those places, I'm quite happy knowing that *I* have fast net access readily available to me, both on the phone itself and to my laptop, if I so choose.

    The greatest thing was being in the passenger seat of a car going down I-95 for a five hour trip. I had stuff to take care of before we arrived, and it felt really good to be able to get it done and to make that time productive instead of rushing to finish it all when I arrived. Even though interstates don't have WiFi.

    Can't the damn platform have its own, organic internet connectivity? These days, it's more likely that I will be out of EvDO range before I can't find an unsecured WiFi network to steal from.
    Well first off, I don't know where you live, but I'm in the New York/NJ area, and there's still plenty more EVDO than there is Free (or even pay) WiFi. And second, the wording you use is telling: "an unsecured WiFi network to steal from." Clearly, even you recognize that there is no such thing as truly free WiFi. Someone has to pay for it, and there is always a price of sorts that one must pay to use the net. For you, it's using unsecured networks, and having all your data out in the open, going through God-knows-who's network, with no idea if there's anything like a packet sniffer or other security breach there. No thank you! I'll steer clear of using the access points of total idiots (or worse, people who have deliberately set up honeypots).
    The Timeline:

    Palm Pilot Personal -> Palm IIIse -> Palm IIIc -> Qualcomm QCP-6035 -> Palm m505 -> Treo 300 -> Sony CLIE NZ-90 -> Palm Tungsten T3 -> Treo 650 -> Palm T|X -> Blackberry 7250 -> Blackberry 7130e -> Treo 700p -> Blackberry 8703e -> Treo 750

    You shouldn't get the 700p, you should wait another year until the built in battery on the 600 starts to completely suck, and then eventually you won't be able to do anything without the phone being plugged into a power source. Thats when you should upgrade.

    Well, thats been my experience after having the 600 for 3 years at least.

    I think you should get a Blueberry with Blacktooth.

    You shouldnt get the 700P until you can use better words to express your points other than they highlighted words up top. How old are you? 2? And why hasnt this thread been closed yet?
