I upgraded to Agendus Premier and Agendus Mail SSL. Now my e-mai crashes (soft reset) my Treo 600 on about every other e-mail I try to open.

Also on the meeting notification, I wonder why I have to use SMS and can not send an e-mail via Agendus Mail?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I've upgraded & no problems with Agendus so far... <famous last words>

I also tried out the Mail app, but I prefer Chatter for my email. I did try out the SMS features and whilst I like the concept, text messages that I sent were not always received -- different contacts on different networks over course of 3 days resulted in a non-delivery rate of approx 30% despite my Treo saying that the message sent successfully. I have since removed Agendus Mail and my texts seem fine now.

As Treo 650 GSM does not support sms receipts, I can not use a messaging app that is not reliable... shame.

SMS is better because it uses "Push" technology, i.e. the invited person gets the SMS immediately. If you did it via email, they wouldn't get the notice until they checked their email. Not everyone runs automatic email checking. I don't because it disrupts me while doing other things on my device far too often.

BTW, I work for iambic in tech support and on the iFTM forums team! I hope to be of help with your iambic/Agendus products questions . . . BUT, I don't dictate policy . . . please keep that in mind and BE NICE!

Of course, if you used ChatterEmail you'd get push, not have to check your email, and would NEVER get disrupted because all of this would happen in the background.

What the best way to upgrade from a previous version of Agendus v11?

Install 11.03 over your previous version, or do incremental steps? (11.0 first, then 11.01 etc?) Also: Is it possible to upgrade from Agendusxxx Professional to Agendus 11.03 Professional without that extra stuff on the Premier edition?

That SMS stuff idea for meetings looks great, but it looks as if you need the Premire version and Agendus Mail for that. Any way of getting it down to the Professional version in the next few months?

    KevMeister,

Probably the quickest way to address your questions is to point you to the product page: http://www.iambic.com/agenduspremier/palmos/

Where you see the + and + really tells it all. Premier is 3 separate apps (only two execuables): Agendus Pro + Agendus Mail SSL, with the Attendee Module which adds SMS functionality to scheduling meetings - invitees get an SMS "invite," and when they accept/decline, you get an SMS accept/decline notice. If you invited 20 people to a meeting, you can check your Agendus Pro meeting and see that (for instance) 13 have accepted, 5 declined, and two have not responded. Fire the last two!

Unless you have colleagues with Treos/smartphones, this feature is only as useful as the number of people in your organization or circle of friends who have this application AND a smartphone.

The attendee module is really just a nice design and something to play around with for most folks. But Agendus Pro + Agendus Mail SSL is a nice combo, even if you never use the Attendee Module.

    Hope that helps.

If I'm not mistaken that requires a $25 annual chattermail.com account to get the "push" functionality, correct?

    11.4 available now

I downloaded this to try it out and installed it to my 650 with 17.4MB free memory.

Really, really slow to load the calendar, tasks, etc. Like 10 - 15 seconds. I have 2600 contacts, about 400 tasks, 400 memos, and a couple hundred calendar items. Is that the reason?

    Installed 11.04. I don't think it's any slower than 11.03.

What you might consider, is archiving some of your historical data to the desktop (feature included in Agendus) to reduce the database size. All database applications reach a threshold of diminishing returns.

    To purge your records:

Menu -> Options -> Performance -> Purge Items
Check Meetings and Tasks & Calls
Choose a past date such that dates prior to that are unlikely to be needed for referral. Typically 90 days worth of meetings and completed Tasks is sufficient.
Check "Save archive copy on PC (See Palm Desktop "Help" for importing archive should you need to restore this data)
    Tap Purge and then OK
    Check the performance for improvement

Many repeating meetings are another cause, ones that occur with higher frequency, such as weekly with no end date extending years out into the future. iambic is working on a solution to this, but as a workaround, you could set end dates for these to . . . say one or two years out.

As the features and code of Agendus have grown proportionally, our engineers are constantly striving to optimize and keep performance (startup and view change times) at reasonable and acceptable levels, but database size and content work against that means as well. Among the worst database performance reducers are: expired tasks, expired tasks/meetings with alarms, long notes (in certain views, Agendus must read every note/journal entry before drawing the view). So limit "notes" on meetings and tasks, and journal entries to just that . . . notes and not "books."

I hope these suggestions improve your performance.

    Regards,
    John
