Anyone have any clues or updates? I upgraded to a 700P, and am now stuck without email because our IT dept doesn't support EAS and the 700P doesn't support the BBC hack.

Yes, I am aware that BBC was released in Singapore. I mean a US carrier.

    This sux...

Have you tried ChatterEmail with the EX plugin for mail (assuming you have OWA access)?

I actually have been using the Chatter / OWA combo. My gripes vs BBC:

    1) You have to send messages on the spot. BBC drops it in your outbox and silently delivers the msg.

    2) BBC seems to be more of a true push. I get messages sooner, and the Treo doesn't seem to be tied up processing tasks while I do other stuff like Chatter

    3) Chatter uses almost 2x the battery life of BBC

    Hmm...

    1) I don't understand this; Chatter does the same thing. Maybe you can explain it more...

    2) Chatter gets push notifications within seconds, and it shouldn't tie up other tasks. I wonder whether you're getting push at all... Also, if you don't have a very recent version, Chatter might be slow sync'ing (there was a problem with tying up the Treo in some versions). I think you'll find that there's VERY little slowdown with the most recent versions.

    3) Probably so.

If you want to follow up on these things, send me an email to support@chatteremail.com.

Aside from the Chatter option does anyone have info on the BBC status?

I was at a RIM show this week and they said its all up to the carriers and Palm to release the software. He said the software has been working flawlessly around the world for months. He was unsure of the holdup in the states.

My understanding is that the carriers don't want it...

Very cool. Carriers = Sprint 700p?
  12. #12
I am hoping more then just Sprint. I was unable to find out which carriers. I was told the US would be getting BB Connect in days not weeks. If I find out which ones, I will post. I am crossing my fingers it will work with the 700p's and not just the 650's. Given that's all thats been released, i fear its just coming to the US for the 650's. I don't know if they are planning on updating the BB Connect software to work with the 700p flavors. Knowing that the US has both 650 and 700p's, where as Europe/Asia does not have the 700's.

You can download blackberry connect at this page:
    http://www.palm.com/au/software/blac.../getitnow.html
It's on the australian site but not on the US site. You can find it by going to palm.com, go to the bottom of the page and click on "palm international" and pick australia as your country. Then do a search on "blackberry connect." Or just use the URL I provided above.
Just click on "get it now" and fill out the form, pick any one of the 3 carriers (the software is not carrier specific.)
    Presto, you've got it.
I downloaded it, but I haven't tried it yet. I don't have a BB account set up at work yet.

I am going to try to dl either the australian or asia download for bbc however I have heard that you have problems with the time zones on the calendar and also downloading files like word, excel, and pdf.
anyone know if the australian software has fixed these problems?

Thanks taylorh and rflores2323 for the comments. I am aware that BBC is available via international sites and used these versions on my 650. The problem is that the intl versions are incompatible with the 700p I currently own. Thanks though.

I have downloaded that a few months back when it first came available for my 650. I am curious if the one that gets released in the US will work with the 700p. If its the same code base then no.

Unless Sprint has changed strategy in last month or so, they never completed BBC testing for 650 and were not pursuing testing for 700P or W...don't think you'll see it from them (though I'd love to be wrong).

Because, as of a month or so ago they hadn't even been looking at the 700p/w and never finished testing it for the 650 according to folks I know to be very knowledgeable.
