I have had 4 Palm Pilots over the years and loved everyone. Now I have a 650 and have been using it for about 6 months. I had downloaded ZLauncher one time and didn't really understand it. Now I have read that you can use it to "hide" built ins such as Xpressmail.

Could someone explain it to me briefly?

    Thanks

with zlauncher you can hide icons. Press and hold on the icon you want hidden and go to Info, from that menu go to Attributes box (Attrs), from there click on the Hidden box, then hit Done then Save. Now that you've changed the Icon's info, you'll need to go to ZL Preferences, in the General Tab unclick the Show Hidden Icons and hit OK. Now all Icons that have the Hidden box checked will be gone...

I follow you but I have a little problem. I used the theme that you download with ZLauncher and when I hold down on the icon and choose info and attr it already shows that file as Hidden. Then when I went to Preferences it was already unmarked. However they are still showing! Am I nuts?

When I first started using zLauncher, I took a different approach to hiding the icons I never use:

    1. Place the icons I use on the "main" tab.

    2. Go to "All" tab, hit menu-t to open the tab prefs window.

    3. Under the "general" tab, check "Hide"

    4. 2 and 3 for all the tabs you don't want.

I ended up using 5 tabs, with 6 icons on each. One for apps useful for work, one for games, etc.

Alternatively, you could use an app like Obfuscate...

    good luck

What I personally do is create a tab called "Hidden" and hide that tab. Then stuff I don't want to see, I put it in the Hidden category. Quite easy. If I need to see something in there, I can unhide temporarily and that tab then shows up.

ZLauncher is a *LOT* more than hiding icons, it can move programs and data to the SD card to save ram space, it can very easily organize things into the specific categories you want, including SD card items being anywhere and not just in their own SD card category. It has a really nice file manager, Undelete manager (including programs, data, and prefs), and it can look very very nice when configured. Example:

Yes, ability to move files to SD and back alone is easily worth the price of admission, IMHO. I've tried other launchers, and there are some good ones out there, but I am pretty happy with zLauncher. Not just for all the reasons previously stated, but also because I love tweaking the "look".

    Right now it's:

and who knows what it will look like next week.

Sheesh, down to 9.2 left in RAM. Time to clean house...

If you think 9.2MB isn't a lot, then you must not run a lot of applications...

I used to average something around four or five AFTER moving about 80-85% of my apps to an SD card...

Oh, I've been there before, but for some reason I began to obsess on getting that number at or above 10. Still not quite sure why... perhaps my gf is correct in thinking I suffer from a borderline obsessive-compulsive disorder.

    Kane,

Is the top portion of your screenshot the today plug-in? I would REALLY like that. I have ZL and enjoy it a lot.

How much does it cost? Where can I get it?

    TIA

Actually, It's two different plugins. the calendar one I found here:

    http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86086

and the weather plugin is from

    http://www.shsh.com

The weather one is actually a 4cast plugin. The calendar is a free dl, the 4cast one is also free, but you need to have 4cast, which is not.

I still haven't successfuly gotten the icons hidden but wondered if you would explain your favorite functions of ZLauncher and then explain how to do it.

Is it maybe that I would need to change my theme in order to get my changes to function?

    Thanks

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I notice a Moon phase indicator in your screenshot. How can I get that?

    That's a part of the 4cast Plugin

I can't find where to get it to display. All I see is the Weather Icon.

    Where do I select it?

Thanks again. I will probably buy 4cast once my 30 day trial ends.
