I've noticed that my treo lights up (from a previously blank LCD) at 12:09 AM every morning. I'm not sure if it turns itself off, but I would assume it's the normal delay for LCD turnoff. It's not really a huge issue, but I'd like to know what's causing it. As far as I know, I have no alarms set.

Sounds to me like people have a lot of theories why it happens but does anybody know for sure. They blame roaming, blame cards, blame software etc. Does it explain this. I have a 700p, before that a 650 and before that a 600 and 300. The 600 use to wake up at 3:00 am everyday. Don't remember if if was 3:00, 3:03 or 3:09, I believe it wasn't exactly 3:00. Anyway. Having the 700p made me nostalgic for my older devices which I always keep for some reason. I charged them all up one day. All had dead batteries, had completely reset themselves clean of additional software and hadn't been connected to the phone network for quite some time. Out of the corner of my eye, I looked up and saw the TREO 600 had revived itself. Yup it was 3:0whatever am on the clock. I have read alot of threads and to this day don't think anyone knows the real answer. Maybe I just didn't read the right one. Cut someone a break.

ps. I'm am now curious to know that if my TREO wakes up at 3:09 and the for our friends at 12:09, is it a time zone thing and they are really waking up at the same time. I'm on the east coast.

My old 600 used to wake up at 3:00 every morning. It was software. My 650 wakes up at some random hour in the morning. It's software. My 300 never had the problem. It's got something to do with the device checking for network messages or something of the sort, but it's software nonetheless.

Sometimes mine will light up and turn off randomly and then do it again within a 5 minute span. My bluetooth earpiece is always nearby though so I blame that.

It might be software but I assure you its software that came preloaded onto the phone, not the result of add ons.

How do you know? Have you hard reset (and not restored) in an effort to find out?

Don't know if you read my earlier post, but my TREO 600 from Sprint had been disconnected for over two years, the battery went dead, all was lost (not that I cared because I had gone the 650, 700p route). I charged the battery and all that was in there was original files that come on the phone before you do anything. I even had to do the set up steps. Although I did not do a hard reset, the only files there are the ones that would appear after the hard reset. I think the completely dead battery takes care of removing everything from memory.

I didn't run a search because this seems like a pretty unique/unusual problem. I didn't think anybody else would have it.

The Treo 650 has been available for almost 2 years now. At this point, there is nothing new under the sun: almost anything you encounter with this device will have already been talked about here.
