Following up on jeffandpam's question, for the past few days, every time I hotsync my 700p new info for MyTreo & Addit get caught in my uninstall manager sandbox, and I delete them. I don't use MyTreo or Addit. IF I was to open MyTreo, is there a way I could stop it from automatically sending me crap? Should I disable the Addit conduit, or will that affect more than just MyTreo?

That's the simplest solution: just disable the Addit Conduit.

ha! ha! Did that day one that I got my Treo, after about the third hotsync . . . yeah, I'm kinda dense!

OK, I'm real dense...how dio I disable Addit conduit? and do I understand this is generally a good safe thing, or does it carry risks?

Trying to be less dependent on you guys, I found that on the palm desktop I could uncheck "enable addit canduit"...is that what you meant.

...and what the heck is the sandbox anyway?

But if you don't use AddIt, you can delete all the data files (which are not in ROM) and turn off the synchronization feature. You'll free up RAM that way, and speed up your HotSyncs, since data won't be downloaded, updated, and then transferred to your handheld.

I rely on Quicknews (a highly recommended RSS aggregator) for my news, and never use Addit.

    Speak v e r y s l o w l y for us idiots. Should I turn it of on the desktop?

Will I regret it? I think you are saying no, that all the good stuff will still be backed up.

Sorry for the repeat and insanely simple questions, but the light bulb just hasnt turned on in my head...and I have a history of thinkling (wrongly) that I finally have it figured out, often resulting in 2-3 hour phone calls to tech support.

You know, I bet there are a lot of guys like me who would pay good money to mail the phone to someone and have them do it all for me (but I guess you would need my PC also). Oh well.

Is there a Geek Squad (ala Best Buy) for Treos?

Anyone in the Virginia Beach VA area want to sign me up as a customer?

Disabling the Addit Conduit will not affect the syncing of other apps nor will it affect the backing-up process.

Hey now, if you're dense because it took you just 3 hotsyncs, I don't want to know what that makes me after 5 months of hotsyncs!
