My friend just gave me a bluetooth. When he tried it on his phone he couldnt put in the code to unlock it....I have a Treo 650 and when I got to the bluetooth settings and search for nearby devices it doesnt recognize the device. What could it be?

What type of bluetooth device is it? Most of the time you have to re-set the bluetooth headset and then try to pair it up with your device because if it has been used with another device it will not pair up with a new one until it has been re-set. The same thing if you ever do a hard re-set on your Treo you will have to re-set the bluetooth headset.

usually it's 0000 or 1111 & usually there is a button combo or long press on the headset itself to put the headset in pairing mode.

Press and hold the Volume Up/Down buttons at the same time until the
    headset light rapidly flashes.
Search for it with the treo, then enter the headset passkey of 0000.

this is from the PDF for the VIM headset at www.seecode.de/dl/VIM_engl.pdf
