    Using IBM/Palm Java http://www.palm.com/us/support/jvm/

I was trying to install the Google Map application http://google.com/gmm
Through some difficulties I got it to give me the addresses of the file so I could do an install.

There are two versions (basic and advanced)
    http://google.com/gmm/apps/v1.2.3/en...c_MIDP1_en.jad
    http://google.com/gmm/apps/v1.2.3/en...d_MIDP2_en.jad

These should link you to the Jar Files
    Advanced http://www.google.com/gmm/apps/v1.2....-123-m2_en.jar
    Basic http://www.google.com/gmm/apps/v1.2....-123-m1_en.jar

I have tried it before and it locks up quickly (usually with the EULA question or an OK message blocking the screen) but I can see it trying to draw the US. It then asks the "can I connect to the net" question and locks up.

Today I was playing with the basic one and I got it to go a bit further. It drew the use and gave me a numbered menu (my number keys did not work) but the 5 way did. I picked one option (sorry, don't remember) and then I got to move the map around a bit (via 5 way) to the right and it seized up after filling in a few pieces.

Now it just continues to lock up at the beginning again
FYI - I had my Java memory prefs set to 4 MB and 2k

So two things: I wanted to mention how much farther it went and anyone have any ideas on the above URLs that might make it spit out a different version of the jad or jar files? (The ones with generic in the title look promising).

I forgot I did tell it to give me the satellite view and it said this phone won't show jpegs.

Okay, I got it to go some more. I upped my IBM VM prefs to 8 MB and 32 k (although I don't think that helped).

I got through again. I connected to PowerVision via a different application and then launched it. I kept pounding on the OK button before it connected to the net. It finally let me in again.

I wanted to put in an address but it wouldn't let me type.

Zoom was the option that let me move around, when I zoomed it started to update and froze.

Not consistently working but I got in a few more times...

Obviously not usable though. The important thing is it's not just limited to a first install...

I'm assuming someone at Google has a 700p and is working on it

Google maps doesn't support palm yet. You can however use Kmaps which is a java application that does mapping using google maps.
