Is this RomUpdater like the ones Cingular provided so that even an ***** like me could install them?

I don't want to mess with the RomTool but would love to be able to update the Rom.

I think I did it once...don't you put the file on the SD card, hard reset the device, copy the file to the device and run it?

No. If you mention about ROMupdater download directly from palm.com, you only save, unzip then run romupdater.exe. Just follow step by step the on-screen guides then you done.

Does anyone know what the rom contains besides the support for Fat32 and partition size? Does it still have Tutorial, Real and Versamail?

    MVT,

The Rom I linked is a Custom that you run the SD Method.
    1. Download
    2. Unzip
    3. Copy the included 'Palm' folder to an SD Card. (either use a clean card, or temporarely rename your existing 'Palm' folder on the card)
    4. Plug your AC power cord into treo.
    5. Hard-Reset
    6. Insert card.

    And away it should go.
Let it run all the way through, resets and all. Sometimes it may reset itself a few times.
    7. Restore

"Search" (in this forum) is your friend. Let's try "custom rom" and "Jamesgangut"

You can op-out step 5. Just insert the card. Extra note: when it finish at the "choose language" step, you must remove the card, otherwise, the procedure gonna start again.

I know jamesgangut had several custom roms....which one is this?

I think its a fair question to ask what it includes (Versamail, Realplayer, FAT32, Fastmode Blazer, Tutorial, etc.)?

    It came from here:
    http://discuss.treocentral.com/showp...3&postcount=30
I'm pretty sure it is stripped (No VM, Real, Tutor).
No FM Blaze, but it does have fat32, and some bug fixes.

There is a bunch that he built.
I will go get the links and post them here.

I guess I had already put many links to pre-built Custom Roms here:http://discuss.treocentral.com/showthread.php?t=108580

So is the 1.20ENA that much superior to 1.17CNG?

I did want to use a 4 Gig card so that in itself is a reason to install it.

    I prefer it over cing.
It is the newer (most updated) of the fw/sw.
If you are going to go that route, I would make sure it has the 7.1 Rom Partition.

If all you want is fat32, then that's an easy swap.

Is the 7.1 Rom an option? I was just going to load the RomUpdater as is....

I would not run the official as is.
It has issues, and it's partition is larger than cing.

Please tell me what you want and don't want, so I can better help.

I just want a Rom that I don't have to mess with Romtool since I read through that thread and didn't understand it.

I would like FAT32...don't want Versamail, Tutorial or Realplayer. WOuld like FastMode Blazer unless its too buggy.

Just looking for a stable ROM for Cingular.

That one I linked in Post #2 is perfect for you.
I would start with it first.
However it does not have FM Blazer.
I myself have never had trouble, but some have with downloading files from internet.

So if everything goes ok, and you still want FM Blazer, I will put it in for you.

As far as ENA's Stability, Maybe I have a reset every couple weeks at the most.

That's what I was going to do! Thanks for the advice. It seems to be working so far. But I do see icons for Versamail and Tutorial and Realplayer.
