Does anyone else have this problem?

Only the phone number (plus the originating state) appears for both incoming and outgoing calls; the Treo does not get the name of the person from the Palm contacts. Even if I dial a phone number that exists in the Contacts database, no name shows up.

I'm not sure if this is because of other applications that use the contacts database, like Agendus v.10, or apps that hijack the Palm's regular PIM's, like Goodlink, but I'm pretty sure this problem existed before I started using Goodlink.

Also, I have searched Treocentral's (fairly comprehensive!) discussion archive and I don't have any hacks, ringtone managers, and other accessories installed to interfere with the phone application.

I don't believe Agendus is the culprit on this one. The phone app is linked to the legacy contacts db somehow. What happens when you launch the 'Contacts' program instead of Agendus?

Do you have Ringo Pro installed? Older versions of Ringo Pro causes the problem you are describing.

    Contacts works perfectly well.

    - Requesting a phone number to be dialed (by pressing the Green hard key) from Contacts makes the name appear in the Phone application.
    - Requesting a phone number to be dialed from Agendus does NOT make the name appear in the Phone application.
    - Dialing in a number manually in the Phone application does NOT make any name appear.

I don't have Ringo Pro. Like I said, I have no ringtone managers, phone hacks, etc.

I have this exact problem. I'm running a pretty clean phone with very little 3rd party software. I called Sprint's Tech support and we went through the whole process of hard-resetting the phone, and re-provisioning the thing. Even though we did this whole "clean" setup it did not fix the problem. Sprints tech support final comments were "we can't figure it out, take it to a Sprint store and have them replace it." I have not had time to do that, but it seems like a pretty weak level of support.

Would love to hear if others have this problem, and if they do what they have figured out.

I think I found the answer.

GoodLink's Contacts applications effectively hijacked any attempts by other Palm applications (such as Phone) to interact with the address book database, since both GoodLink's Contacts and Palm's Contacts use the creator ID PAdd.

    Here's how I fixed it:
    1. Open FileZ. (freeware file manager from www.nosleep.net)
    2. Tap "View and Edit Files" button.
    3. Tap the arrow next to "Internal". After several seconds of waiting, it should open up a list of all the files in your internal memory.
    4. Tap "Filter" button.
    5. In the Filter dialog box, set the pick lists to:
    Creator
    Begins With padd
    6. One of these entries is GoodAddressBookApp. Tap that name, then tap Details.
    7. Change the Creator ID to something else. (I used "Pad2"). Then tap Save.

A lot of things went back to normal for me; for example, I could use the regular Address Lookup in Versamail now.
