I recently started using a program called 'Super' and it works great to transcode from about any format to any other format.

Best of all it's free and works very quickly. Kind of hard to wade through their website though, but worth it.

If you just want to transcode from a DVD to a format that can play on TCPMP, I use Pocket DVD Studio for Palm. Works fast and let's you adjust the file output size. No need to convert to 3GP if you use TCPMP - just convert to Xvid using this software.

I bought an inexpencive DVD ripper, Magic DVD ripper, then downloaded VeMoDe to convert, they work great, in VeMoDe you can pretty much choose the out put size, I can put three or four full lenght DVDs on a 1g card and the voice sincs perfectly with no tiling.
