Just caught this on 1src. http://www.1src.com/headlines/show/001607.html

Palm is making VersaMail 3.5 available for download on PalmGear for $9.99. Windows Version is http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fu...&prodID=124074 and Mac version is http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fu...&prodID=124075

Nothing earth shattering here. It simply gives you the version of VersaMail that was released on the 700P and makes it available for Treo 650, Palm T|X and LifeDrive owners.

To me, the benefits are the availability of syncing contacts using ActiveSync and the ability to select which categories I want to sync using ActiveSync (mail, calendar,and/or contacts).

It's a .5 update and not a full point upgrade, so don't expect anything amazing. But I find it to be a good lightweight e-mail program for users who can use ActiveSync to their Exchange Server. Nice to see they made it available.

OMG. I spend $600.00 on an unlocked GSM 650 and they propose that I pay $9.99 for a 0.5 upgrade. Unbelievable.

Gmail was unbearable for me due to the numerous bugs in 3.0; I downloaded and installed 3.5 and it works wonderfully! I got my phone dirt cheap so I don't mind the trouble to make it work right.

Software isn't free to develop. I think $10 is reasonable for an upgrade considering the Treo 650 is a 1.5 year old device.

But why would I replace SnapperMail with the far less functional and less reliable VersaMail at any price?

I'm out of my mind. But feel free to leave a message.

Agreed. A 0.5 upgrade to the *worst* eMail client available for $10 is a ripoff. VersaMail is lightyears behind Snapper and Chatter. They should be paying me $10 to beta test their VersaMail.
