I have noticed that not all of the files that I set to be installed by HotSync sync. Some files, regardless of if they are .doc, pdf, or even movies, just refuse to sync, while others sync just fine. I can't find a reason when looking at the files themselves. Does anyone have any anwers to this or has seen this?

Also if I have a long list of files, sometimes HotSync only syncs part of the list and I have to do the rest in a second sync. Has anyone encountered this?

    Thanks.

Hotsync is basically just really old & outdated software.

It can be really flakey sometimes. Don't expect too much from it.

What would you recommend as a replacement that is newer?

    Missing Sync.

I don't think that anyone here would disagree.
(Just remember to make a full backup copy before upgrading)

Seems a little pricey at $40. Is paying $40 really worth what the software will bring me?

It really depends what your needs are. If you are only looking to move files back and forth, then an SD card reader is only a few dollars, and a program called Filez is freeware. It will work with all formats and you'll be set.

But if you want a proper reliable sync, Missing Sync is the only way to go.

with the folder sync feature in missing sync you can sync unlimited numbers of folders anywhere on your mac hard drive with folders on your palm SD card automatically. plus you can interface with itunes and iphoto very well. Its great software.
