So, I just installed 1.20 on my mac-based unlocked gsm 650. The process required a hard reset and install. But then I had a reset cycle after I hotsynced the first time. So I hard reset again, and loaded my apps and preferences back on one at a time. Took all afternoon, but I finally got it more or less back into pre-update shape. But now the problem is that my phone won't ring. When a call comes in, it vibrates and a message flashes on the screen saying file size error. I use only default ringtones, no ringo or mp3s. I know the ringtones are there, because when I sample them (i.e., test them when setting up in the preferences panel), they work fine. My SMS and email buzzers work fine, as does my alarm. I did a search and could not find any history of this problem. Any clues? I'm missing calls because of this problem, and I need a solution! Thanks.

Perform another hard reset, but before restoring any files, turn on the phone and call it...does it ring?

DId that. It rings at first, but after putting files on, no luck.
I don't know what the issue is - I didn't put anything on that I didn't have before, when it worked perfectly. Help!

I know it doesn't seem to make sense, but since it rings when clean, and doesn't after you've restored your files, there's obviously some software conflict stemming from one or more of your applications.

Rename your desktop /Palm/<username>/Backup directory (to, say, Backup.old), hard reset your Treo and hotsync. That'll load your PIM data, but none of your 3rd party software. Then add back one or two apps at a time, testing the ringer after each install, until it breaks again; at that point, you'll know what the problem is and can delete it.
