I'll probably get one too... and plus, I just wanted to post and subscribe to this thread.

Zoti, Count me in when you get your short antenna for sale.

Pardon my negativity but aren't the new Treo's coming out soon in september that are WITHOUT antenna's? Would there still be a great deal of demand for a "mass production" of a "shorter" antenna?

I didn't know all Treo 650 are going through circumcision the day the antennaless treos are coming out.

My project is for the Treo 650. There are a few hundreds of thousands Treo 650s out there. I think they will still be around for the next year or so. Right?

Of course I'm not going to make an antenna for the antennaless treos.

The antennaless versions are GSM only. Hopefully Sprint and Verizon will be persuaded to allow Palm to reduce or eliminate the antenna in future CDMA versions.

I'm perfectly happy with my treo 650. Just because something new is around the corner doesn't mean I have to waste $$$ buying it. A more modest outlay for a shorter antenna seems like a smarter option for my situation, plus I get to avoid that hellspawn of a mobile OS (been there before, not going back).

Here's another "me too" post. I'd pay 25 or 30 for that, I think... and I say that being fairly poor, getting most of my electronics off eBay and thrift stores and so forth. You could probably get much more for it.

Unless the new ones coming are running some kind of Linux underpinnings which allows real multitasking and per-process memory protection, I'll be waiting patiently with my 650.

I've already lost my patients, i admit. I've sold my 650 and replaced it with a T-mobile MDA. So far, I have no complaints... and I dont suspect I will in the future. It has got to be the best smarthphone I've ever used.

Are 600 and 650 antennae the same. Hope so.

And Treofun: Shouldn't you be at MDAcentral or whatever it's called, rather than making OT/negative comments here?

600 and 650 antennae are not the same. The 650's is rounder.

Internal parts are different as well.

Any chance of a 600 model. There are probably still quite a few of us out here.

The 600 antenna is different and unfortunately I don't think there is a big enough install base to justify a 600 antenna production.

Well we must be on an exchange program then as I left Windows Mobile behind and intend on forgetting I ever supported the platform. It's use on phones is clunky, inconsistent and downright dysfunctional.

    A few questions:
    1. Will the short antenna be available for the Treo 700? Note that there are w's and p's which are quite a lot users.
    2. How much is it going to be?
    3. When is it going to be available?
    4. Do you have a website where we can see your work? and maybe include FAQ ?
    5. Where are you located?

    Thanks,

    Al

    - It's an option I'm considering but it will have to wait until the first production run of the 650 antenna is done and sales are made at a satisfying rate.

    2. How much is it going to be?

    - The antenna is going to be priced at $29.95. There will be a bundle offered of 1 antenna and 1 Torx #5 screw driver to remove the antenna screw priced at $34.95. Shipping will be kept low at only $4.95 USPS. Worldwide shipping depends on demand but I'm definitely considering it.

    3. When is it going to be available?

    - if things go well I hope to open the store to the public at the beginning of Sep 2006.

    4. Do you have a website where we can see your work? and maybe include FAQ ?

    - I already registered a domain name and started working on the store. I will hold the name for now until the work on the website is finished as I don't want it flooded yet.

    5. Where are you located?

    - We are located in Plano, TX.

I haven't sold my 650 yet, so I can comprare the antennas side by side. I see no external difference (unlike the 600), so unless there's something different internally, it should at least mount fine on the 700p. I'm willing to be a guinea pig if Zoti doesn't have access to a 700p and is understandibly leery to advertise the antennas as compatible without proper field testing.

I compared my 650 to a 700 that was on display at Fry's. There is a slight difference on the outside. I don't know about the inside but it's as easy as using one Torx 5 screwdriver to find out.
